nine inch nails suck one of my favorite bands is atreyu even though they are hardcore not metal, but i usually listen to rap or classic, alternative and stuff like jack johnson and dave mathews

More of metalcore than anything, which is better than the "long-hair-have-a-few-beers-after-the-show" metal. (i.e. pantera, metallica) and DEFINATLY no nu-metal for God's sake.

2. Motorhead (Lemmy is God, Ozzy is his prophet)
3. Iron Maiden (best use of twin guitars in Metal)
4. Judas Priest (See No. 3, almost as good as Maiden)
5. Tie:
-Alice Cooper (best shock rocker ever, out-doing wannabes like Marylin Manson, years before Manson was even born)
-Metallica (without these guys, the heavier side of metal never gets started)
