Hey, I was looking for a good attack stick and I was wondering how this combo sounded. A brine answer for the head, the brine ti22 (classic grip) for the shaft, and dura mesh. It's my first stick since I'm new to the sport (not counting my friends old stick I've been using). I was looking for a good, durable stick that would last me awhile and after reading ratings and reviews from this site and Lax.com it seemed like a good setup. What do you guys think?

Sounds fine, the answer is supposed to be a good head. The brine ti is a little interesting though, I've heard some mixed reviews. For the price though I'd go with an stx ti, they're great. Plus, that is a little much for your first stick. I started with a proton on an al6000. If you have the cash though, go for it.

Yeah the cash isn't a problem. I rather pay the extra bucks for a good stick instead of getting a cheap beginners stick and needing to get a better one after a year or so. I've been using a vector on a al6000 (friend's old stick) but I want to get a more serious stick. I've heard rumors that the stx shafts aren't the best (not talking about ti's). Supposedly my friends brother snapped one in half during a game.

Well I wanted to get it at my local shop (lax unlimited) but they didn't have the stx ti so I went with the brine. Love the stick though. Only a few cons (nothing serious though):

Brine Ti22 has a clear coating on it to make it look glossy that comes off where you grip it and makes it look a little blochy (just cosemetic so its ok)

Another thing was that they used a cheapo warrior ball stopper instead of the default brine one I expected (doesn't matter though since it doesn't make much of a difference)

And I had a little trouble with some mix between the sidewall string, answer pinch, and shooting string. When I first got it it had pratically no pocket. When I stretched out the pocket there was a gap of mesh that wasn't strung on the sidewall (because it couldn't have been with the original pocket).

Now for some reason that stretched pocket with the extra mesh caused the V/U shooter end knot to get in the inside of the head (pocket area) along with some of the edge of the mesh.

This plus the sidewalls and the pinch of the answer (which is sick might I add) caused the ball to get stuck there. I didn't notice it at first since it threw fine but then one time when I turned the stick over to drop the ball I realized it stayed in!

Every time I threw the ball into the head it would get in that trap. Only problem is that obviously it was illegal. I was about to go to lax unlimited to see if they could fix it since I didn't know exactly what to do. Then last night I decided to try something. I strung that gap of mesh at the end into the sidewall then tightened some of the sidewall to keep the edges of the mesh at the end on the exterior of the head. And Viola! The problem was solved. Have any of you ever had a similar problem?

Well in the end I think this stick is great (but what do I know since I really don't have alot of experience with different sticks).

I'll have pics up soon.

But just to summarize it its a Brine Ti22 with answer head.
It has black dura mesh and red sidewall strings.
The shooters are white. 2 across and a V/U (I say V/U because its sorta a mix. Its sharp like a V but the point is 2 diamonds instead of the usual sharper 1 diamond point) and there is one blank row of diamonds between each shooter.

I'm kinda dissapointed... The stx ti doesn't dent half as much and holds up better...

I know I was too but I can't complain since its my first stick. If I ever get another shaft I'm going to buy a stx ti online or hopefully lax unlimited will have them so I can hold one and see how it is.

How do they compare in weight and strength?

If its really a huge difference I'll have to look into trying to get one down the road or something. As it is now though my stick is much lighter (and I assume stronger) then my friends' sticks.

I live in Baldwin. Why where do you live? (I go to LuHi if you're wondering about school)

EDIT: Nevermind, just noticed Merrick, NY under your name.

you can have lax unlimited order an stx ti, it will just take a few days for it to come in. and if you dont like the glossy coating, you can use nail polish remover and it gets most of it off, but it will also take the decals/stickers off.

Is the stx ti really worth getting instead at this point? Plus, do you know if they would allow me to trade the brine back in for credit towards it?

wow, well i guess you can buy a really heavy expensive shaft, with a decent head, since you are so rich. but i think the best combo in sticks i have ever seen is a evo pro on a krypto alloy. hard as a rock, light as a.... really nice stick.

so rich? Not really unless you consider having $200 for a stick rich. You should look at paintball if you want to talk rich. Best paintball guns cost around $1000.

Besides how is titanium REALLY heavy? Plus without a little weight I find it harder to make good shots.

well i think it is a waste to spend up to 200 green on a stick, when you can get a really nice stick less than 175. i didnt spend 1000$ on my paintball gun. besides, thats comparing apples to oranges.

Get off his back, you were talking about all of your expensive equipment in another thread.

Dont bother with titanium. Seriously, no offense but just because its "titanium" or because its really expensive doesnt mean its the "best". Talk to college players or people that have played for a long time. Most of them use a basic c405 alloy. Cheap, strong, durable, dependable, replaceable.

I was talking to one of my teammates that sucks but all he does is walk around with a great atlantic catalong and recite facts on equipment...he was talking about how "titanium is the best"...I said titanium sucks....

he said "well then how come they use if for high end tennis rackets?" :dummy: :loser:

God forbid he spends an extra $25.

I know you already have your stick and all but Answers unstrung are less than $40 at Bacharach. And for the titanium shaft, everyone always says go with the STX Ti but it's really not that big of a deal to go through and get the STX one if you already have the Brine.
