What do you guys think the toughest conference is to be in? We've got:
These (http://laxpower.com/update05/binboy/rating21.php#conferences) conferences.
I'd have to say NorSub.

Central will be toughest next year when Notre Dame moves up to varsity (yeah right). Its obvious that North is the toughest. Libertyville, Loyola, AND lake Forest. No questions asked

north definitely. but its really only to your advantage to be in a tougher conference. with so many crappy teams in IL, the more good games you can schedule the better, and if you have to play teams like loyola twice, its only gonna help come tourney time when it counts. sure at lt its nice to destroy our conference opponents, but i know if we had good games more often, our team would be focused and disciplined.

I'm new to the site. My user name says it all. I've watched a lot of you guys play - some for years - and I am extremely impressed at how the quality of LAX in Chicago has improved. The boys up north (NT, LF, LY, etc.) will be seeing some unbelievable competition in the next 3 to 5 years.
As the season ends, the playoffs will determine the best team. However, the best conference can be decided by pure statistics. Which conference had the best power ranking on lax power.com? Which was the most balanced top to bottom (standard deviation for you honors math guys)? Which was the best when removing the #1 team (which can skew the average)?
A fact without data is just an opinion. Lies and statistics! You guys figure it out!
Here is the statistical ranking
Conference Average Std. Average
Power Rank Dev. Less #1 team
IL CenSub 81.81 9.31 79.66
IL MidSub 81.12 4.05 80.21
IL NorSub 80.74 6.92 79.51
IL DuPage 79.18 5.56 78.06
IL WesSub 78.57 8.70 76.40

DuPage is that a joke, there is no way they would be in the top 3, they don't play any hard teams so their records are all good, each of them only really play a couple top ten teams. How many of them have played more than 1 top 5 team. Thats why Hinsdale beat Neaqua Valley.

They are 4th out of 5. Their Std deviation does indicate that they are the second "tightest" conference, meaning that they had more similar records than other conferences.
Looks like mid-suburban is the most competitive. Second best average, lowest SD, and highest average when dropping the #1 team.
