wow u guys realy know how to make a guy feel special!:agree anyways... pinching is realy simple once u find the way that best fits u'r needs... i for example boil b/c the low risk of... well... screwing up lol...
1) first take a pencil and sharpen it down to the length u want the scoop to be
2) then with "string" (anything that won't be effected by heat that would likely strech such as fishing string *learnd that the hard way*) tie the throte the way u want it, ive used leathers from extra stringing which worked fine and twine
3) boil u'rself a nice pot of water... drop the head in and let it sit for about 2 or 3 min. that should work fine then take it out and let it cool and don't put it in the freezer (its posible that the sick could crack but highly unlikely just wait the 10 min. it takes to cool at room temp... don't get rid of u'r water... once the stick is nice and cool drop it in again
4) after u remove the head from the water i say wait an hour just to be on the safe side then remove u'r string and u should have a nice pinch proton
* a little side note, make sure after u have tied off the head b4 droping it in the pot of water u make sure its leagal... also for even more help check out the stick tech section on www.e-lacrosse.com

yeah he does. but could you explain why you drop it in for 3 minutes and then for an hour. is it because water only reaches 100 so its not as hot as a 400 oven. that way it prevents expansion in the future.

no don't leave it in for an hour! lol what i meant is u drop it in again for another 2-3 min. and then let it sit to cool for an hour... u realy don't need to wait that long but it never hurts to be safe

leathers will get screwed up. mesh shrinks too.

I just used the dishwasher to pinch a strung head, came out great. I just used the baseball/butterknife trick so the mesh wouldnt shrink while drying, and it is money!

i pinched, or rather tryed to pinch my shot gun by heating it over the stove, at it made it rather top heavy:cry, sadly I did this before learning about the boiling method, but its not really much sweat off my sac; or rather back, because i bought it for like 5 dollars.
But I kinda wish I could fix it

Ive learned that if your going ot bake a head, do it in the oven on a cookie sheet, with a towell in between the head and the sheet itself. You bake the head for 5 - 10 minutes, on 350 , then as soon as you take it out of hte oven, you immediately put it in the freezer, to re combine the molecules , so they are tight, so the head maintains its stiffness and doenst become extremely flimsey. I have a spare oven as well as a large freezer in the basement so its easy for me to throw it from one to the other.

Putting it in the freezer like that can crack the head, its not very common but just watch out.
On another note I first heated mine over the stove and it didn't work verywell and made it top heavy, but I later fixed it when I tryed boiling. So I would reccomend boiling, to anyone who wants to pinch there head.

yeah, goin from boilling water which is 212 to a freezer which is 32, you can crack your head. it puts a lot of stress on it. i would just let it cool down to room temp naturally.

But have you guys ever heard of any instances where a head was cracked? Ive pinched over 15 sticks with this method , for friends and my own personal collection, and it never cracked on me. Ive tried all the methods, boiling, microwave, leaving the tied up head in the trunk of a car for a few days, and baking and freezing works the best for me. You dont leave the head in for a long time, just until it gets back to room temperature, but it really doenst matter if you leave it in longer. Like i was saying before, and ive had this conversation with my old chemistry teacher, when you heat up the plastic to reshape the head, you are spacing out the plastic molecules. If you want to get those molecules back in tight, so your stick is as stiff as before, you want to make sure htey retract quickly. If you just let hte head cool down theres nothing forcing the molecules back into their spots.
how many times did u pinch a head and it turned out flimsy afterwords?
grrrrrr so much typing. haha
