Portland... Chronic, Prairie Dawgs, Loggers, Lagers, Rain, Brew masters, Rain Trees, Hoods (Mt.Hood?), Green, Cascades, River men, Shipmen, River Raiders, Peaks, Swimming Salmon, Sultans, Phantoms, Thunder, Criminals, the Beers (Baseketball rules), Hustlers (we have a lot of strip clubs), Honkies, Riot, Whalers (Hartford rules), Vandals, Dingoes, Imps (my friend told me to put this in.), Incubus (my teacher told me to put this in?), Prowlers, Stumpers, Rough Riders, Tweakers, fighting artichokes, hops, and I'm sure there are many more but that’s all we could think of in 1 class period... this is what we do at Glencoe High School

Out of all of those, Cascades sounds the best. And I think criminals only applies to the Trailblazers.

Initially I was thinking of names that go with that particular city....like NHL, NFL, or NBA names do but if you look at the names of the other teams: Mammoth, Knighthawks, Rock, etc, they have nothing to do with characteristics of the city, province, or state in which they play so I think anything could be picked.

I think naming Colorado's team the Mammoth was a way to identify them with the Avs, kind of a similar theme idea. Or maybe that it just gets cold in the mountains...I dunno...

How about running on the Portland Timbers FC (football club) name going with Portland Timbers LC? The Europeans do it, why couldn't we?
By the way watching the final match right now on AFN over here in Kuwait. Never have watched, kinda slow catching on the west coast. All my friends from the east always talk about lax.

For the new Portland franchise, I'll have to go with one of the following names: 1) Ravens, 2) Platoon, 3) Pound [Pound as in hitting or striking with repeated force], or 5) Punch while Edmonton's new name can be one of the following names as well: 1) Eclipse, 2) Energy, 3) Eruption or 4) Norsemen.

actually last year we had a pretty mild winter.. but ya, it does got really cold...

but, it look like the Edmonton Name will be the Edmonton Rush, signifying the gold rush...

We'll find out tomorrow with a news conference... they just have to make sure that the name can be used because an AFL team uses it in the states...

the Edmonton Ice is a bad name because we had a WHL (western hockey league) teamed named that and they were brutal...
