Ummm...no. Even Gary has said that he's past his prime. That's one reason why he retired from the NLL. He was also tired of the beating his body was taking.
But then again, something they said when his brother Paul came back equally applies well to Gary. Even with one-half the skills, he's still more dangerous than three-fourths of the guys out there.

Paul was not dangerous anymore. He's still got the stick and head for the game, but he was SLLLLOOOOOWWW out there this season.
Guess Gary's still got a year or two of field left in him if he wants.
The old gray Gaits, they ain't what they used to be!

i like what gary is doing, COACHING, he was one of the coaches for the 2002 national field team, and I think he will do a good job if he coaches the 2006 team...i could see him doing really well coaching in the NLL....

There is a reason why players retire. Because they can't play at the same level as everyone else. Now it took longer for Gary Gait, because as like all great athletes, they can maintain their level of play longer than other players. But even the great Gary Gait will, and has, met his eventual retirement. With that being said, its time for Gary to go, and he knows it.
That is the true sign of a great player.
With that said, thanks again Gary for a great career and all those memories.
