Well I just finished watching the Arizona v. Toronto game and let me tell you, it sucked :thumbsdow The problem I had with the game wasn't the game itself but the way it was filmed, the announcers, etc... Like hockey, lacrosse is a very fast paced game. This makes it very hard to accurately shoot the game because it is hard to know where the ball is all the time, and if the camera guy doesn't know where the ball is the viewers can't see it. Then there were the announcers. I don't know who these guys were but they didn't have a clue :loser:

I know that everyone has been all excited about NBC and the NLL joining up but this just sucked.

I will agree on the one part...the camera angles could/should be better.
As far as announcers they were ok...Embry calls hockey games and really does enjoy lax games...
When In a radio interview about the NHL strike they asked what he was doing to keep busy. He mentioned a few things but when he talked about the lax games he went off for like 5 minutes about it...
what would have been interesting...through gait in there for some commentary

Right, well that is one of the things that makes football, baseball and basketball interesting to listen to is that they have former players, current players, coaches, etc... And Gary and Paul Gait are all three of those.

As for Embry, he was enthusiastic but not very insightful. He would tell you after a goal that a goal had just been scored. Maybe its just me but announcers that state the obvious have gotten on my nerves since I was 7.

Well to answer the question you titled this thread with, yes it is worth the hype. Getting national coverage of lacrosse does nothing but help the growth of the sport. For experienced players the announcers might have been a bit behind the ball. But for people who are just joining, the announcers were taking it basic and helping them out. Which in turn gets the new veiwers who saw the game interested, and then they create more buzz about lax.

When In a radio interview about the NHL lockout

yeah it annoys me when people confuse the situation with the NHL

The point you make is valid, however, what makes you think people are going to watch a 2 hour sporting event that they know nothing about. Lacrosse games aren't advertised unless you are a member of the lacrosse community so few people will know to turn on their tv's at 4:00 in the afternoon. Unless lacrosse gets prime time coverage I wouldn't be too sure that it will catch anyones attention. :whyme:

I saw some commercials for it maybe a week in advance (or a day in advance) on NBC...
while they didn't pump the heck out of it it was something...As long as it was on national TV some bars had it on anyway...even if it only converts a handful of people into lax fans its goal is accomplished...then as they become fans, they will bring their friends over to the dark side...er lax side...
At least that is an optimstic theory
