custom pocket

here is some inspiration for some of you guys! lol, i made this pocket by doing a hemp knot down the center and then i did coils from the sidewalls to the center... so far it's working very well, and my shots are very hard now, harder than they were... i'm still breaking in the pocket right now and it's a bit hard to catch right now, the ball keeps bouncing out, but that should go away... we'll see how this comes out... i can only upload one pic at a time, so i'll let you see it from the front, the next time i post i'll put the side view in...

vary cool... im inpressed... i've heard of people using hemp knots in sticks but never saw one i think the looks of the stringing is great!

i agree. very tight looking. how did you make the hemp section. is it out of nylon.

yup, the hemp is made out of some really thick nylon and the coils are made with the same stuff... the break in is pretty much done since the pocket is pretty deep and the ball is pretty much going where i want it to go.. it did take awhile to get the shot going right, it feels a bit different than mesh, but the shot is much harder... it throws sidearms like a dream, and i have yet to do underhand... so far so good... it does have a tendancy to have the ball leave early when it's wet, since the nylon gets slick real fast... but i'll keep filling you guys in on the progress...

the hemp thing? yup, thats where i got my inspiration... but i didn't like how his was done, it looked like it was too loose and i dunno, but i tried it out, and came up with this... i really didn't think ahead on what i'd do, i just sorta tackled each problem as i came to it... worked out well...

ed note: i just looked at the e-lacrosse one and it also had two leathers on it too... mine is made entirely of nylon string, so that might make a difference... and i was going to incorperate the rubber shooters thing instead of the coils, but i didn't feel like spending money on something that may or may not work... so i just did coils...

i'm totally finished breaking this thing in! it throws like a dream and i'm very pleased with the results... it doesn't have the crazy ball bouncing out thing going on anymore and the only complaint i have is how heavy the head is now, since that hemp is in there, there is almost twice as much nylon than in any other pocket (at least in the ones i've seen) and it retains water fairly well, which isn't a good thing, lol... but other that those little complaints, this thing is a dream come true... :clap :clap

How'd you make the hemp thing in the middle? and what is the e-lacrosse site that has it? I couldn't find it when i went there

Has the ball fallen through one of the holes in the pocket? I did a pocket kinda like that "for her pleasure pocket" and the ball would slip through the holes in the sides... I put two long coils going throughout the length of the head... and it fixed it! Cool lookin pocket though! GOOD JOB!

dpole: i made the hemp knot longer than the distance from the tip of the head to the stopper, so it'd make a nice pocket shape on it's own..

LM: i just did a search online for hemp knots and came up with something similar to this: http://www.geocities.com/theoldhippy/m12.html
it's a square knot, and if done correctly, one side will have a perfect channel for the ball, looking back on it, i should have done the coils at the same time, that way i wouldn't have screwed up the channel, o well..

accually i didn't have that issue with this pocket, the nylon i used was super think and with it coiled, it was about a 1/4 inch thck... i tried to pry the ball through, but it wouldn't go... so it was cool :) im' thinking about getting a bionic and stringing it in that

ed note: that is one HELL of a pocket you got there, i would have done something similar to that if i had leathers, but im' too lazy to but them online and pay more for shipping than for the product...
