Do you guys think it'd be possible for me to make my own goal? Not for regulation or anything, but just for me to practice my shooting..I could get all the measurements and then get some wood together and do some hammering and screweing and attatching....

My dad and I my own- if you have the tools and welding skills, all you need is some pipes, which you might even be able to pick up for free. However, you need a metal saw and a welder, which I know not everybody has. The net is another matter. If you use wood, try to round off the inside to try to make it so it simulates a real goal more, if that matters to you at all. Good luck with it though.

where can you get nets any way like especially lax ones
pvc isnt expensive we made a potato gun for less than like 60 bucks cause the most expensive parts were potatos the grill lighter and sealer

You dont need to weld it... they make metal 90* elbow connectors that you can attach with screws

I had mine for 4 years. I shoot about 75-80 with a short, and I've been hitting pipes for years. Bacharach sells the nets for about $100 a piece. The PVC on mine is about 1/4-1/2 inch thick, and it broke only about 3 weeeks ago. I hit the VERY inside corner from a shot with little angle. Snapped the PVC completely through at the joint. Word up to that. :bawling:

You might want to just wait till sports authority or similair has a sale on complete nets. Buying all the materials might actually run you more than buying one pre fabricated. I got mine for like 85.00

pvc and blue tarp...works great...just put a weight on the back or fill the pipes with sand and your set

just take make a frame out of metal pipe and use the jionts to put it together and put suports on the back or dig in the ground and use a thick but small holed chain link fence or just get regular chain link and then put another piece of chain link on in a different direction so the ball wont pop out, i know its confusing

My dad just made me one yesterday out of some 2" PVC pipe that was laying around his studio. He downloaded the specs from the NCAA rules section on equipment - 6" high x 6' wide x 7' deep, painted it orange with Krylon spray paint. He found an old field hockey net that he cut up and stitched/tied together to fit, then whip stitched it on to the poles. It's awesome! Regulation size and cheap!!! All he payed for was the PVC elbows, PVC glue, and the paint.

If you're looking for CHEAP net...dad found on Ebay, search for "fishing nets" there is a guy in Seattle that buys used fishing fleet nets and sells them in pieces that are very useful! 2' x 2" squares, 15' x 30' for $20.00!!!! and guaranteed NOT to smell like fish! You can buy enough for a large batting cage for $100.00 compared to $300 - $500.

Check it out, I hope this helps!

Bumping this up, any instructions anywhere?

It's pretty easy...go to any website that sells equipment, go to the goals and nets section and see what they look like. Remember...6 foot high, 6 foot wide, and the bottom pieces are about 7 foot long that meet in the middle of the 6 foot wide span in the back of the goal. 3 pieces 6 foot long, 2 pieces 7 foot long, 4 - 90 degree corners (if you are using pvc about 47 cents each at Home Depot), and to join the back 7 foot sections together you can just use a small triangle piece of 3/4' plywood and screw it to the pvc pipes. I sure there are other and even more difficult or stronger ways to attach them but the wood works pretty good for a backyard goal.

so for actually connected the PVC pipes, i use plywood?

also, is there any way to make the thing more mobile, cause i live in an apartment complex and i dont want it stolen or vandalized so i wont leave it there....
