Big Word

This is the big word I finished stringing today. This is my first attempt at a custom pocket and only my second pocket involving leathers.

that is awesome dude... and for only your first custom pocket that is excellent. The first pocket i ever strung was a wide ride pocket of e-lacrosse but you beat me big time. Ur my new idol...

Thanks. It took forever to string and i havent gotten much of a chance to throw with it yet but so far its pretty good.

I put one of these pockets in my Swerve and it is amazing. At first, the pocket has alot of whip, but that is easily changed. You also have to break it in alot before it throws nice. You did an oustanding job stringing this one.

mine isnt broken in much and it throws nice without alot of whip. It hhas good hold too, according to my friend who tested it out.

I'll throw pics of my big word i just finished stringing in my pinched av8. really didnt take that long at all, and the hold is suprisingly good considering its only a 2 leather pocket (although i strung mine with a pita channel and then strung around the ball). Throws good, lookin to sell the head though because i dont use trad.

that is sweet but why did you attempt (and concor) such a diffacult pocket on only your second leather pocket? but the fact that you did it is awsome i usaily get fustrated and go watch tv then go back to it. but very nice job

i like weirc have a big word with a pita channel...such a smooth release and it's real nice...no whip at all

I was gonna try it with the pita twist but I decided to do something I knew would work. I worked on it and didnt give up because several people at my school said I couldnt do it, including the main stringer on our team who charges alot and takes forever (3 weeks to do 6D on my friends edge).

Ok, you don't have to believe me. I received a bunch of spools and mesh and stuff from jimalax as a birthday present because I like stringin. Also, how would you know whether or not I know how to do multiple colors? it isn't any different than stringing it with one color.

yeah man, i did. but if u read it, it was not strung by me. i took pictures and wrote the how to, and he strung it. his name is bryce geiman and he offered it to me for the article. I've done other stuff with that idea, but never come to the finished pocket that he did. always innovating...

School colors (forest green and white). I should be done tonight or tomorrow. And if anyone wants me to, I can do a pictorial of the big word because I will be doing another one shortly.

if you havent started stringing it, allow me to make some suggestions, if your down to trying new things. for more of a traditional pocket feel, use one less row of loops, and just make the others slightly bigger to compensate. Also, I've always been a big of the twist down the middle, cuz i think it makes a great track for the ball. so if u wanted to throw that in, give it a shot. or, just do it the way it's been done and that'll be straight too. good luck, and yeah, do pictures

For some reason it looks like there is a layer missing from the pics on e-lacrosse. Did you just skip a layer or somethin?

Nope. I did the same number of "layers." It may look that way because I used different colors.

he already did the turtle shell on my pinched evo. Theirs pics and everything just search for "turtle shell" or u should be able to find it on the first page of stick tech.

Those pockets both look awesome. What's your ballpark estimate on time to string a Big Word? I've got my supplies from Jimalax on their way and I'm just curious to see how long (roughly) one of these pockets takes to string.

it depends what state of mind ur in. you must focus. intensely. then probably no more than 2 hours, but if your ADD kicks in, and you keep having to redo everything, it can take upwards of 4 hours. maybe i just dont concentrate like normal people

Cool, thanks. This is going to be my first pocket (should I be scared?) so I imagine it's going to take me a while to get it right.

BTW, congratulations on winning the NCLL D2 Championship. I played for Kutztown way back in the day and got a chance to play on Rip Miller Field. It was a lot of fun. I was happy to see that you guys took down Williamson Trade after they spanked KU in the semis.
