So what will you be doing next year?
I don't think I'm going to do any youth ball next year, I'm sick of dealing with Coaches who don't know the rules at all but continue to yell like they do. I enjoy working with the kids but the Lightning/Bantam divisions are a little on the slow side. That and I'd much rather relax on the weekends.
I plan to continue doing HS and at the moment I don't have any interest in moving up to the college ranks at this point.
How about you guys?

I'll continue doing a full slate of HS Varsity/JV and USLIA college games. I am mulling over the possibility of returning to my old post as HS assignor in my area, but I'm not sure if it's worth it.

Hopefully I will do a ton of games and beat my personal record of 69 games that I did this year. Hopefully I won't have to eject any Players, Coaches, or Spectators for Bad Conduct. Hopefully their will be plenty of balls on the endlines.

This is the first year I'm kind of regretting the onset of my 20th football season and wishing lacrosse was still going on. We have a full slate of summer leagues and I know there will be several tournaments in the fall, but I miss it already!!!
Also, next year will be my first of not having to arrange my officiating schedule around my son's playing schedule so I should be able to work a lot more HS and USLIA games. I wouldn't mind traveling to some other parts of the country to work some USLIA games, just to get a feel for what its like in other areas.
I've also thought about going to some HS tournaments around the country, but since I'm used to working by NCAA rules at all levels here, I'm afraid to go somewhere that might use Federation rules in a tournament and I'd be completely lost!

I met some USLIA officials from Texas at the MDIA championships recently, but they said they didn't know any Shrek Jr. You aren't posting under an assumed name, are you? :chuckle:

If you met the two that were sent to work, tell me what you thought of their on-field performance before I tell you if I claim to know them. :)

I actually didn't see them work; I just met them at an officials' party.

In that case, they were probably nice guys. They're both out of Houston. I've worked with one of them a couple of times and he is pretty good.

They just don't know your "secret identity," huh?

Guess not, but anyone from the Dallas area who read this forum could easily figure it out pretty quick. It's not like I've kept anything a secret for any reason. Funny thing, the one guy that was there from Houston that I've worked with, he and I stood in the parking lot at the state championships and talked just the two of us for about 45 minutes.
