Just finished watching Maryland vs. Georgetown on ESPNU, didn't get a chance to watch it earlier today.

So guess what happens, Georgetown requests a stick check after a Maryland player scored a crucial goal in the fourth quarter. The Referee takes the stick to the center, measures it, drops the ball in checking the pocket depth. He then turns it over and it doesn't budge at all, easy call. So what do they do, wipe the goal and penalize him for 3-minutes. Maryland coach wanted a 1-minute penalty because it was a pocket penalty.

Just thought that was interestng since we've had this debate(1-minute vs. 3-minute) on these forums a couple times.

The debate we had tonight was whether, under NFHS rules, they could get 1:00 NR for adjusting the strings or jamming the crosse PLUS a 1:00 NR or 3:00 NR penalty if the stick still failed the test, or if they could get at most 3:00 NR even if they adjusted.

To me, it seems obvious: if the guy was going to get 3:00 NR anyway, and he commits a second act of adjusting, it should be cumulative.
