I don't understand how to do the two-finger move at faceoff. Use two fingers to grab the guy's mesh? how is this even possible when your hands are on your stick?

It's where you use your index and middle finger extended out (and as close to the throat of your head as possible) and use your fingers to get them under the other guy's head to prevent him from clamping.

So do you just extend them at the whistle, or do you start holding them out?

At the whistle, before will net you a procedure call.

Hmm..interesting. Also, is it legal or illegal to just hit your opponent (say your hands are together) on a faceoff to knock him over?

You can muscle him, but it's best to do it in a manner that makes you box him out so you can still play the ball and so the ref knows you are still playing the ball.
