I am thinking of going to long pole middie and and i need to increase my arm strength for speed of checks of my stick checks and so on.
I understand that filling your shaft up with sand is a cheaper alternative but i don't really feel like filling my whole d shaft up with sand everytime i am going to train and i would rather fill a backup stick up with sand and i don't have a backup dpole right now
Has anyone ever trained using this? how were the results?

its ok, but if you can find the tight butt system, its a lot better and allows more customization as to where you want the weights.

gt a AL6000 that thing is as heavy as a Trainer. and cheaper too.

Or just fill your shaft with sand and tape the bottom so it doesn't fall out... But you can spend $30 on one if you want.

i would never buy it. just buy a cheap aluminum shaft for 20 bucks and fill it with sand.

but he said he doesnt wnat to do that, cant you read. And in no way is a straight AL6000 as heavy as a powermaster

he said he would rather fill a back up pole with sand, why dont you read! so i recomended that he spend a little cash on an aluminum pole, which is heavy, but not close to as heavy as the trainer.

Can't you ALL use good grammar? Sure, it may have been an exclamatory question, but it's a question nonetheless. Both Laxdevil and Coltslax said "Don't you read!" with no question mark, making it a demanding statement saying "Do not read." One more thing, don't critisize my imperfect grammar, i almost never capitalize my I's.
Any way, i highly suggest getting the trainer. Do not cut it down even if your LSM pole is cut. The trainer is extremely helpful. About 3 hours of work with it, and you'll feel a difference.

lol, i dont think anybody here capitalizes their i's or any thing for that matter. also for the record, i said 'why dont you read!' it was more of a statment than a question...lol, and i thought i stopped taking english so seriously outside of class.

umm, hi-jacked? I actually want to know what the best trainer is. Does the power stick/ tight butt system rattle?? That'd be really annoying. Does the powermaster have different weighting in differnet spots, thus making it better than an AL filled with sand?

The powermaster is the same weight throughout. I see it as a decent investment, since some kids out there spend $200+ on a d pole you might as well spend $35 learning how to use it. It's pretty good for a pole, since it seems like it helps with checking speed more than anything else. Just give yourself some time to change back before a game to your normal pole.
After using it for wall ball for 10 min, it makes titanium seem like a feather.

ok, the tight butt comes with three different sticks. One is a solid metal bar covered in PVC, one is half metal, and the other is hollow. It allows you to put the weight towards the top, bottom, or middle, if you wrap tape on the ends, it wont rattle.
The only problem is that all three are not long enough, so i brought a wood dowell and made a 2in spacer

hmm, still hard to decide.

It seems like a shaft that is a consistant density (and weight) would be the best training shaft. Throwing with one that's different weights in different parts seems like it might throw off your aim.
How much is the tight butt and weights? If it's around $35 (which sounds about right) then it's pretty comparable to the powermaster.

KOB, the tight butt does retail for 35.

how about filling the shaft up with pennies? i heard of ppl filling up tennis balls with pennies for middie, and attack training.......it would probably cost you a couple bucks tho..:)

True, but then you have to think to yourself exactly how many pennies do you really find yourself using as opposed to the other coins in our currency. I'm sure you'd come up with more than enough and would be putting them to better use....just make sure they aren't *** pennies.

it cost me about 1.50-2.50 to fill up a tennis ball with them

That is wrong. The Power Stick is the weights. The Tight Butt is an actual end cap.
See for yourself.

Oh yeah, if you want to talk about filling up your shaft with pennies, make sure you have about 6-7 bucks worth of pennies. No joke. That's for an attack shaft.

It’s not supposed to be too heavy, that’s the advantage over sand, because when you put a lot of weight in your shaft it screws up your shot.
CuseLax18
06-12-2005, 12:21 PM
Yea, because if it is too heavy, then your body will try to change how you throw to push the extra weight. Which when you go back to a normal stick, you won't throw correctly.

like the others said, go to Modells and buy a cheap d-pole. They are really heavy if you buy them from Modells. Fill it with sand and it is usually cheaper than buying a weight traing stick.
