I saw an classified ad for a STX Titanium for sale which read:

"Stx Titanium- the kind that was made up until this year when stx changed ti to the rounded, really weak kind. These are the older ones that everyone raved aboout."

Does anyone know anything about any supposed differences, and how to visually tell the difference between the two, should a difference exist?

YES! I know the difference, as a person I know got one of the new ones.

The new version has a more rounded grip, and this grip is coated with some chalky material, and feels pretty good. This is in contrast to the old version, which had an uncoated octagonal, edgy grip with no coating. Apparently, the old STX ti's were really good an durable, and, though the new ones are pretty lite for Titanium, they're very weak compared to the older ones. I don't like the new ones at all.

I think the only difference I've seen is that the new ones have the 'Titanium' lettering in orange.

I have a older stx sharkskin ti shaft and the edges on it is similiar to the grip on a f22 and it is very strong.
