today i pulled the step in move where you step over the guys stick so he has to take a hand off his stick to get around you. My coach said it may be illegal procedure so i wanted to check. Also is clamping your shaft onto the guys hands/wrists a legal move? that one i havent tried yet because i wasnt sure

On the step-in, as long as you don't kick the crosse I would tend to let it go. the clamp could also be legal if they are considered part of the stick, since you are allowed to hold you opponent's crosse on a loose ball within 5 yds. My opinion.

I would have to agree. However, if A1 has the ball clamped and B1 pins his hands to the ground, I'm calling B1 for withholding the ball from play.

clamping his wrists to the ground is the same as his hands; it's witholding the ball from play because youre preventing him from making any actions with the ball. think of it along the lines of pinning the stick against the attacker; same difference. You even say it when you write "so he cant get the ball out to a wingman". Going for the ball is one things; clamping it down is another thing, at least the way we call it in NY.

If he clamps his wrists down but the ball isn't under his crosse, it's probably fine.

ok but if i clamp his wrists for like 2 seconds, just long enough so i can make a move without him getting the ball out is it still withholding the ball from play?

When he wrote "Ok. i was planning on just clamping his wrists so he cant get the ball out to a wingman", I assumed the ball was under the stick head and he was preventing him from raking it to the wing. But if he clamps his wrists and tehre is no ball under the crosse, wouldn't that be holding in some form or another? You can hold a crosse with your crosse within five yards of a loose ball, but a body part of a player without the ball? Is that true? It sounds illegal to me.

When I said I thought it was OK, I was thinking more of his comment about clamping on his hands on the stick. If he gets further up the arm I'd likely call the hold, and agree with the comments about if the opponent has the ball under his stick. This would likely be a quick-moving play. Even with a stick across my hands it's not going to prevent me from pulling my stick out.
