I am going to either the johns hopkins camp or the University of Michigan camp.

I WANT to go to the U of M camp cause even though I live in mclean, my mom lives in ann arbor, MI, which is the very same city the camp is (so i can sign up as a commuter and pay like $100 less. it has a 8:1 camper ratio, and starts at age 14 (so no kiddies playing with me). it also has 5 days of camp (compared to JHU's 3). they have 1 on 1 sessions, and they also give you a free bag to carry your sticks (plus a lanyard and reversable). they also have optional sessions on stringing, nutrition, conditioning, weightlifting. being led by u of m head coach John Paul.

it sounds like michigan has lots of good points! but i'm worried. i'm afraid that if i make a scouting report and have what camps i attended, and they list a non-NCAA school (but 2nd in USL-MDIA) i wont get as muich credit as someone who went to a JHu camp..and if im tlaking to my friends theyll be like "oh yeah i went to johns hopkins camp" and i tell them I went to the u of michigan camp, they may scoff or something.....

I dunno, my main concern is that I wont get the same level of coaching since Michigan isnt a D1, D2, or D3 team. pietramala would be cool to meet!

what are your thoughts? does it sound like U of M is good enough? they ARE 2nd in USL-MDIA as i said before...

Is going to both really a huge problem? Any way it can be worked out?

dude, you're not going to get on a recruitng list at 14. Go to the camp where you will have the most fun. You shouldn't be worried about "exposure" at 14. And screw what your friends think, you'll learn more at a camp where you're having fun anyway.

I think 14 was just the starting age for the camp.

I'm not sure if I really want to go to this camp..

So don't go..

Hey, somebody had to. May as well be me.

Seriously though, who cares about recruiting at age 14? You're a freshman (if that), you should be worrying about bettering your skills.

I went to that camp last year, great camp. I had a lot fun, I just wished I knew some more people there.

But I do know John Paul, so that was good..

a couple of options:
1) go to both
2)if you can't go to both, i would choose UofM, simply because it sounds like a better camp. recruiters won't care, and you can always go to Hopkins next year . . . .

It sounds like UofM is a better camp even though I'm sure U'd have a great time at hopkins I think U'll get more out of the UofM camp because it's longer.

Well that site where you can create a recruiting profile, laxscout or whatever, in one of their options, they list the different camps you went to. I can't go to both cause I'm already signed up for 3 other camps, totalling around $500 (about 900 for college + thsoe 3 camps, including 1 Jesse Hubbard camp). I'm SURE going to thsoe, but I can see if my dad can scrounge up some more for JHU :p

If you're a junior and seriously considering JHU, then go to JHU. You can spend time at the school, around the coaches, in the dorms, etc. It's a great way to get to know a school. If you're younger, go with the skills camp.

I HIGHLY doubt there is a JHU camp session still open. As of two weeks ago 2 of the 3 were closed. Good luck though.

well that would solve everything. however, if i CAN go to a 2nd college camp (in addition toU of M and those 3 madlax camps), itll be either JHU, if not that, then prolly UVA, Navy, or someone....

i would say that your best bet to play the best people in our area is to play at jhu. a lot of good guys from my team are going and if you play with the best you can only get better by having to try harder.

anyways. i would say go to hopkins only because i've seen what they do and i like it. but if you are going there, you have to have a purpose (ie getting recruited or doing your best in front of coaches) if you dont have a purpose (although it sounds like you do) go to other camps because hopkins will be fun only if you do your best and show everyone what you have to offer the game

If it says 1 on 1 taining, don't believe, it won't happen...

Same thing as Peak 200 (supposed to have around 200 campers)...ended up being Peak 500
