Alright... I've been playing with a Synergy and stock shaft for 6 seasons, my whole lax career. Basically, the head is falling off the shaft, the plastic is like rubber, and the shaft is dented in so many spots its begining to resemble cottage cheese. So, I need a new stick. The lax camp i went to had a bunch of the maryland players there, so i tried one's stick out and liked it. It was light, had a nice drop and pocket depth, and looked pretty  .

I'm pretty experienced and need a high level and durable stick. Do you guys think this is a good combo? The price of the combo should be around 160-170.

I guess everyone is in agreement with the Impulse or the Tempest as two of the better/popular heads currently available in women's lacrosse, however, the shaft is a personal choice. Lot of folks here like the composite shaft with those heads as well. BTW, a composite shaft will run about $20 more than the 803...hope that helps.

I play with that combo and i love it. But like celtlax said, many people also go with the composite shafts from harrow and it really is a matter of preference

Thanks for the input guys. I was looking into Harrows while I was at the camp and liked them as well, but I didn't find them as light or appealing cost wise as the 803. Ladylaxer, is the stick durable? I mean, can it take a check?

I have the exact combo you are talking about and I love it. It is by far the best stick I've ever had and it can most definitley take a beating. I've had the shaft about a year now and not even a dent.

You know I can see why people are turned off by the Title IX...it really feels incomplete...IMO the Warrior composite shaft feels much more comfortable and with the built-in end cap it's actually about a 1/2 inch longer....

Thanks guys. I'm so getting it now... as soon as I figure out where to get the shaft. I'll prolly get it off Bacharach.

I've had it for two years and I play all year and its never cracked, very durable.

Thanks everyone, I ordered it and it should be here in 2-3 days. I'm so psyched! But, does the shaft come with the hole to put the screw in pre-drilled? I dont want to screw up the hole, so should I take it to a local lax shop?

celtlax

my Warrior shaft came with a self-tapping screw but most shafts don't....the assumption is to use the screw from the original head...DON'T pre-drill a hole...definitely take it your local lax shop if you don't feel comfortable with the install, I am sure they would do it for free and probably have plenty of extra screws...

haha i screw on heads a lot, cuz i work at a lax store. and well no one told me how but people always ask me to. soo just take an electric screwdriver/drill thing and make sure ur heads on all the way.(hit it on the ground to make sure its nice and snug) then put it on the ground and screw it in. its pretty hard to mess up

Sweet. You'd be amazed at how good i am at messing things up, lol. I'm thinking of dyeing it, but i have absolutely no idea how to. I just want a basic yellow and maroon anything (school colors). Do you have any ideas on what designs or ways to dye it and how? I have to take out the stringing, rite?

celtlax

yup...you would have to take the string off...you actually have to heat and dip the head into the dye...here are simple instructions:

I bought my head thru Laxfactory.com...they have a neat way of customizing the head..dyeing, even string colors....you can really pimp out the head..lol..

I've been playing with a db Apex for a couple years and am now looking at moving up to a Tempest or Impulse. Can anyone give me their recommendations between these two heads? THX!

IMPULSE ALL THE WAY. I finally got mine and its SOOO light, i love it. It looks nice, is easy to pick up with, and throws accurately, fast, and crispy, lol.

I must ask....if you've played with a synergy the entire time you've played lax...obviously it's working well for you. Why change sticks? Why not just buy a new synergy?

Piklz
06-27-2005, 06:28 PM
good question. I guess I wanted something new... my problem with the synergy was that the plastic got really soft and ended up like rubber, so i didn't want that path anymore. also, I had heard amazin' things about the impulse and when i tried it out, i liked it. Dont get me wrong, i love the synergy, but i wanted something new and more advanced.

Is the Impulse very good at picking up ground-balls? i know my Synergy is, but im looking to upgrade my head too after reading this forum.

impulse is great on ground balls. i had it. but switched back to my old tempest. i think im the only one that prefers the tempest to the impulse. but tempest is awesome at gbs too

Actually, a couple people on my team had the impulse for about a year, and then switched back to the Tempest. One definite factor is that the impulse becomes illegal VERY easily. I am always re-tying/taping it. But I love it, so it's worth it, especially if you can find away for it to stay legal!

ljlax

see i feel like the pocket ont he tempest is bigger and its easier for it to become illegal. weird..

laxgirl0108

Well, I guess it depends on how you have your pocket tied. I just know that that's why people on my team switched back. I love both...

Piklz-how much did you pay for you shaft if you don't mind me asking...?
I just found the db803's on laxfactory.com and they are $45.00....
THESE PRICES ARE UNBELIEVABLE! THE IMPULSE IS $60.00!!!! lol
