Have people take shots at you with tennis balls when you're wearing no pads.

And this would help how??
A solid chunk of rubber is almost never going to feel good on contact. But you can work on other things like quickness and positioning so that getting hit occurs less often. Also, if you are very tense, the ball will hurt more then if you are relaxed when being shot on.

Make sure your stepping to the ball, it makes it hurt less, of course you should be stepping to the ball anyway.

Its true. Its something to do with the muscle contracting and hardening when you the ball hits you. I used to think of it is hurt the ball before it can hurt u

I was thinking about the phycological pain, you know, "it's all in your head"? If he gets used to being confident and stepping to the ball he won't think about it as much when being shot on with a real ball.

Work on footwork and positioning.
Also, when you lob the ball out of your stick, STARE at the ball, almost until you get dizzy.
The better you can focus on the white dot you have to save, the better you can get yor stick there in time. Work your hands and mechanics, too.

^^^That's good also, ALWAYS look at the ball when making a save. Always.

Another good tip is to know where you are in the cage, use your stick to check pipes.

one tip is dont just have team mates fire on you at any time have your coach warm you up before they just start ripping them this will get your confidence up and you wont be affraid of the ball as much

I agree with cmm. Warming up is crucial for your performance. A good warm up will cover 6 areas - on the stick side, high, hip and low and off side high, hip and low. The shooter should start at 50% and increase to 85% of his shot. You don't need to be cranked on before a game.
Make mental notes and have a mental checklist. Every time that ball crosses midifeld I go over mine. Stick, Stance, Focus, Drive, Step and Wall.
Stick refers to my hand positon on stick and keeping the lower hand loose and further away from my body than my top hand.
Stance reminds me to stand tall, on the balls of my feet and get my postion in the net. I play a low track (arc).
Focus refers to me following the ball and not the play, but also having an awareness of ball positon on the field.
Drive means I drive my top hand to the ball once the shot is released.
Step is obvious. You need to step with the ball side foot into the shot.
Wall means build a wall and make the save. Visualize youself as a wall and stopping the shot. Most important part of your job is to stop the ball from going in the net! Preferably with you stick, if not, then any damn way you can.
