I just got a Cascade C2. It's really light and it has good visibility. It only costs $150.

From the looks of some catalogs the regular old Cascades seem to be discontinued and the C2 has been rebadged as Cascade. With the edition of the CL2h and Cl2h+ it makes sense. Again i am citing nothing more then paging through recent catalogs and checking out the website, which has no reference to the helmet . But it makes sense. For those of you who haven't heard of the CL2H and the CL2H+. CL2H is in between a C2 and a Cpro, looks damn like a Cpro. The CL2H+ is just like the CL2H but i has player customizable parts on it.

well you figure the exchange rate makes the 169 US dollars XP or CPX about 220 Aussie dollars. International shipping figure in anywhere from 30-50 dollars US depending on where you order from and who they ship with.

the st is pretty nice for $100, the chinstrap has some problems, but if you look down the page I have a thread that says one way to fix it. nVlax maybe it would be cheaper if someone from the US bought it and sent it to you.

ya but obviously not built realy well if you need to put tape around the buckles just to hold them in place

go triad st for the aussie. i'd reccomend it because of it's cheapness and overall amazingness. excellent vision, fit, ventilation, cheapness, just plain awesome. the cpx is expensive and in my own opinion, just not as good.

My son plays junior box lacrosse in Alberta, Canada and last year he recieved a Grade 3 concussion. He was hit in the head by a shot that knocked him out cold. He was wearing the top of the line Baer helmet and still he was knocked out. I am looking for a helmet that offers the best protection against concussions. Can anyone help me. I have done some research and found out that lacrosse helmets have to meet a much higher standard than hockey helmets. Actually there is only one hockey helmet that passes the lacrosse standards.
I would appreciate any help I can get in helping me choose a helmet for my son. Thank you all in advance!

I reccomend to you the new Riddell helmet.

It is designed to protect against concussions. You can read more about it at their website and/or go to http://www.lacrossedigest.com for the best price on it.

but in the world of weight dominating the lacrosse market place, the riddel helmet is not faring very well. THey have the outstanding paddign and protection against concussions, but as far as the weight is concerned, they have a little while to go before they are the next cascade. I'd personally stick with cascades, they're time-tested.

A lot of people would sacrifice a little weight to have better protection, especially if they've already had problems with concussions. How much a helmet weighs is a nice quality but not something that will make or break its proformance. Some people dont like having really light helmets either, it does not give them a protective feeling.

I stand by my reccomendation of the Riddell Revolution Helmet.

sumsum, i completely agree. who knows protection better than the company that makes NFL helmets? no one, thats who. if you want protection, go for the riddell. plus, after you wear/use something for a while, you eventually get used to it anyway. so whats the big deal if its slightly heavier? if it keeps my noggin in one piece, then i'm all for it

Yeah accept I've already had two friends that have gotten concussions from the triad. No joke. Its not a good helmet for protection AT ALL in my opinion. Cpro or CPX, good all around helmet.

i agree. i have an XP, and its great at what it does, that is: greast venting, great sight, and very light. it does not, however, have much protection. the padding is thin, but comfortable. i can afford to have such a helmet because of the players in my league (im very strong + they are not= not many hard hits), but many others cant and require more protection.

look at the Triad SP...very light(lighter than XP) and keeps head cool, kool design, OCLOCK system is great! If vision for you isn't a problem look at this, 90-130$ depending on where you look. The vision is same as any other helmet but the XP is better vision. Plus the XP is being recalled because of the scoop of a head being able to get through fase mask. Here's a link...

I would have to suggest the cpro. It's amazing. I couldn't swing 159.99 when i was buying a helmet. But I called around and found a local supplier, and got one for $104, brand new with my highschool colors.

If you are going cascade then it is worth the extra $20 for the CPX

Casey Zaph (NLL Rochester) got a nice concussion last year and is now wearing a specialty hockey helmet. It's some space-age material in the liner that reacts to hard hits and reduces the shock.

I'm a passing acquaintance of Zaph and his parents, so if I can corner any of them after a game any time soon, I'll ask about make and model.

(I've never been concussed in sports, but I'm still thinking about getting one of these).

The Gait is an overpriced Itech hockey helmet (I love how these things are legal for US lacrosse and hockey helmets aren't!)
