Tutorial: Double Sidewalls and Pocket Placement

Most people ask "how do I string a double side wall?" usually the response is "go find a pic in ________'s webshots." However there are many ways to string a double sidewall. What most people also don't realize is that pocket placement, whip and pocket depth all have to do with sidewalls.

There will be three different variations of the double sidewall for a High, Middle and Low pocket i will make. The head i will be using is a dark blue revolution and there are extra holes drilled in it and i will use Jimalax Catapultion mesh. I will not put in shooters, to save me time.

It should take you about 45minutes your first time to get it. I can string up a head w/ double sidewall in about 15min.

Also, all that you see i came up with. Not to say others have not thought of it but i live in virginia and there is not a single stringing for at least 3 hours from my house. Remember great minds think alike.

Materials
1-32" topsting
2-23" sidewall string (1st sidewall)
2-33" sidewall string (2nd sidwall)
1-12" bottom string

Part 1: The top string

The top string is the most neglected part of the head and sets of the rest of the mesh. There are countless ways i will show you mine.

1) Fold over the mesh so there is 10 diamonds across.

2) Start with and over hand knot and string it through the hole. Pull through first diamond (D) and go back through hole.

BACK THROUGH THE 1ST HOLE (http://community.webshots.com/photo/367305240/367305240uPbjDz)
3) Pull tight, go over to first top hole, pull though and come up through the 2nd D.

4) Go down though 3rd D and come up though first scoop hole and pull though and tight.

5) Repeat

6) End in the same as the start.

Part 2: 1st Sidewall string

There are two ways to string the first sidewall. One is to go in and though and the other is out and through.

The In method is good for wide heads and helps create a channel in say a Proton

The Out method works for extremely pinched heads and allows them to stay legal.

In Method

1) pull sidewall string through the 2nd hole down on the head.
STEP 1 (http://community.webshots.com/photo/367305481/367305481ywcDDA)
2) go IN on the next hole, OUT, around and back though the loop you just made
STEP 2 (http://community.webshots.com/photo/367305526/367305526arueCb)
3) Repeat to bottom.
STEP 3 (http://community.webshots.com/photo/367305553/367305553AbJAZx)

Out Method

1) pull sidewall string through the 2nd hole down on the head.
2) go OUT on the next hole, IN, around and back though the loop you just made
STEP 1,2 (http://community.webshots.com/photo/367305553/367305553AbJAZx)
3) Repeat to bottom.
STEP 3 (http://community.webshots.com/photo/367305652/367305652DKSOUP)

Since the revo is fairly wide i'll use the In Method.

Part 3: 2nd Sidewall String

1) To start off the Double Sidewall use a hitchknot

HITCHKNOT 2 (http://community.webshots.com/photo/367305812/367305812oWJfLM)
HITCHKNOT 3 (http://community.webshots.com/photo/367305851/367305851rYXVFT)
2) Go through the 2nd D down and then under the sidewall and pull through the hole.
DOUBLE SIDEWALL (http://community.webshots.com/photo/367305930/367305930YPiRif)
3) Repeat to the bottom. For a middle pocket attached a certain number of diamonds to each space. # of Diamonds in order 2-2-2-1-1-1
DOUBLE SIDEWALL 2 (http://community.webshots.com/photo/367306013/367306013kGUwwq)
4) To finish off the sidewall and prevent ball from getting caught on the ball stop, go out the in though the last sidewall and out through the bottom string hole. Tie a knot.

5) Repeat for other side

Don't forget to trim the extra.

they're links.

Orange: i understand what you're saying but there are probably a half dozen ways to string double sidewalls. With mine and elementsk8er's we now have two different ways to do doubles.

When you have few holes and need to make the most of them.

I am warrior42. I'm working on one as we speak but I'm having trouble transfering the pictures. It should be done in about an hour or so.

Yes, but its almost been three months, which is more than enough "time" to do most things.

Its because Hrod forgot and its not his job to do all of these very tedious tutorials for you.

RedStormLaxer41

and its also not that difficult... just double up where you want your pocket... if you want a high pocket, double up high then string single the rest of the way down. if you want the pocket low, string single until you want your pocket, then double up... its a pretty simple concept

Nice job, but I just wanted to say that I have a book on knots, and a hitch is a type of knot, so hitchknot doesn't really make sense. I know that that is the stupidest thing I could say, but i just had to say it.

It is a very good tutorial. Sorry I sounded rude earlier in this thread, I didnt really mean it. I strung up my x2 with one of these, its an excellent pocket.
