I'm looking to put this into my Torque, but does anyone know if this pocket has a name and is on e-lacrosse or something:

I know that this won't be THAT helpful, but I saw a thread on that pocket using those pictures. It may take a while, but try searching the threads back about a week and somebody on there says what it is and who strung it.
Like I said, not that helpful--but the info is out there. . .somewhere.

No that is not it, because on the Salsibury guy, he has leathers running on the outside of that too. The middle leathers are also closer together.

Now that I'm looking at it, I'm almost positive that it's an xotic pocket (http://www.stylinstrings.com/xoticpocket.htm) from stylin strings. If you look closely enough you can see that the middle two leathers cross like this one:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v511/bradym239/xotic-1.jpg
I have no idea how to string it, but I bet mccool could reverse engineer it---now if he would is a different story.

it's called an xpocket, refer to old e-lacrosse.com pocket guides, there was a mesh and trad only version, that pocket is so old....
and actualy quite easy to string it was my first of the "fancy"; trads I learned to do years ago.

i could but the thing is, that's not the same pocket. First, the leathers dont cross in the pictures, second, those are coils from the sides, not the pita/coil thing in the xotic, and lastly, you can see the X's down the middle of his stick, so it's not an Xotic. i'd guess that pocket that that kid put in his hype for the contest, OR the Shure/chemo pocket on e-lacrosse. i should do one of those, just for you guys

Oh. Well, that's why you string and I just try.

it looks kinda like a RP with a different center. I don't know but thats my guess. Custom though.

yea i think its just a RP but instead of doing a zig-zag in the center it overlaps and makes X's all the way down

or maybe it's something new... something I don't even know about???
WHAT??? I thought we were in the trust tree?
(old school)
I bet it's The Groove pocket from Bacharach or a slight variation on the Groove.
http://www.bacharach.com/images/prod/DS9.jpg
http://www.bacharach.com/products/110
I think the crosslace btwn the middle thongs broken in and stretched a little giving it more of an X appearance. Perhaps TLF's own bacharach could answer for certain? It would make sense. I've heard Bacharach & Salisbury have close ties since half the employees at Bacharach are Salisbury alumni.

i dunno to me it just looks like a tight pita down the middle with straight coils going from the leather/sidewall to the middle pita. i think its just somethig simple like that

The only thing wrong with that, Snails, is that pocket only has 2 leathers whereas the pocket in question has 4.

^^^^^^ No thats not it..it looks to me that it has twisted side nylons,
well it could always be a custom pocket.....took a design he liked and adjusted it to his likings

It's my likings too. :nut:
I guess I'm going to have to invest in some crosslace and leathers and try and string this bad-boy up. Plus I'll take the honors of naming it.

I just ordered a spool of crosslace from Jimalax so I can string this up as soon as it comes in.

Close but no cigar.
The coils go from the sidewall, over the outer leathers and connect to the middle leathers.

LCN, I think your right. They're essentially they same except the coils connect to the middle leathers. I'll post pics or make a tutorial when I string it.

My guess is he tried a variation of that SS pocket by taking out the trad stuff inbetween the middle and outside leathers.

well all you have to do is bring the bottom of the leather a little closer to the sidewall at the bottom of the stick and run the coils to the second row of lethers...i think :)

So it looks like coils in between the sidewall and the outside leathers and then twists between the inside and outside leathers and then traditional diamonds in the middle?
Here's the response I got from a source at Bacharach who I suspected had strung the mystery pocket.
"The player is Jeff Bigas and the pocket is a Groove...But it is a special Groove made by Great Atlantic. You can tell that it is a Great Atlantic Groove as opposed to one of ours because of the x's down the center."
Mystery solved. BTW, nice photo enhancement livin4lax.

i know this is an old thread but that is infact not Jeff Bigas. It is justin smith. Bigas was #6 while smith was #7

ok. to end this entire arguement, that is a torpedo pocket. it just looks different because there are many more twists in the sidewalls. im 100% sure, dont try arguing with it because i know im correct.
it isnt an xotic, the leathers dont cross.
its not a pita, the sidewalls arent done the same way and the channel doesnt twist.
it isnt a complete because the channel and the sidewalls dont twist correctly.
not a homegrown because the channel is different.
it comes down to a torpedo.
by the way, TMan, why did you bump this?

they dont cross, I'm looking at it at like 400% zoom and it doesn't.
