well in the tex lax comparison chart, it states that the db803 weights 5.0 oz, and it has a tensile strength of 100,000, if i'm not mistaken wouldn't that make it like a super human shaft? that means it beats everything except titanium in tensile strength and all that ish? lighter and stronger then pretty much anything and for under 60 bucks? that dosent sound right. the strength has to be off. or someting has to be wrong. cuase it dosent seem right to me, cause if it is, the the DB803 is gona be my new best friend and most cherished beating stick.

Go for it. I play middie, its sooo light and pretty damn strong. Few dents and dings here and there, but mine hasnt broken or bent yet. I love it, I'd recommend it to anyone who wants a strong light shaft that plays Middie or Attack. Best shaft overall in my opinion. :agree

yea i play middie, and the occational attack, but it just dosent make sence that, people are sayin it cracks, and dents easliy when it has more tensile strength of a c405, and everything else but titanum, but regardless i'm gona get one and see.

it does dent easily
but it is still a great shaft
it just is when you make a shaft lighter no matter how much stronger the material supposedly is
it will dent more
the greatest shafts have a perfect balance between weight and strength
that is why the f-15 is better then newer models like the f-22
f-15 and kryptolyte c-405 are two of the most balanced and best shafts
that is why they will remain popular for an insane amount of time

The Texlax comparison chart is wrong, don't go with it, I'm not going to go all in depth into it but I would not say it is an indisputable source. Plus tensile strength is not a good way to measure shaft strength, it's good for airplanes and the space shuttle but lacrosse shafts are all about shock impact. That being said, the DB803 one of the best value shafts out there (if not the best), one of the few that's probably worth your cash.

how is it for defense?
would u recommend db803 or stx custom c405 or otha?

Not sure on either, ask some D-men, I've seen a couple in college use the C405 with a few dents, but you're gonna have to go with testimony from a few dmen around.

f-15
a great d shaft
i know they usually go for strength over weight
so lightness doesn't really matter a huge amount
f-15 is what i think is a great shaft for d

yeah the d803 is a great shaft but does bend easily

yeah the damn problem is that they do bend, even the box version bends, but they are way stronger than price and weight equivalent made by warrior and stx scandium and etc..... But, why not opt for strength and give up a little weight if durability is such an issue, I use box shafts in field, and i am used to them, and they never do bad!

i've never heard of anybody on this board who has broken their own 803. everybody's friend has. i bought mine from qclax, it's amazing. it scratches easily, but who cares? i've been more and more amazing in my games recently. ha ha. and it's uber nice for d, it has the best feel in the game. i'd switch to defense just so i could use an 803 long pole.

I have been using a krypto=pro for a while now, but picking up another head as a backup I was considering also getting a d803 to go along with it. How did it compare to a krypto-pro shape, strength, weight.

Tensile strength doesn't mean much in terms of whether a shaft dent's easily. Dent resistance is more related to hardness than to tensile strength.

A material with high tensile strength will resist bending stress better (like from a hard crosse check).

For me, it doesn't matter either way. I don't like these ultra light shafts anyway. Can't go wrong with Mohawk TI, Warrior Fatboys, or lumber, baby!

RockStar, you are right on the money. Unfortunately, qualities like strength, stiffness, hardness, and fatigue from a metallurgical standpoint are waaay over the heads of 99% of the people on this forum.
