Any good lacrosse movies out?
I just saw Remember the Titans, and from seeing that, I really wish they did something like that, but for Morgan State...or wherever K-Harrison's dad went.

I dont mean to rain on your parade, but it will be impossible to overtake soccer. We will need every country to love and accept it.

In a corse of centuries Lax could overtake all sports. Being I said CENTUJRIES we wouldn't know either way.

i doubt we could take it over, in my school the ratio of soccer to lacrosse is like 3:1, and seeing is how soccer has the biggest fan base any where, it can only grow

You are not going to see many kids quitting soccer (I'm sorry futbol) over a movie. Taking over soccer in the US alone is going to take a loong time. By the way is the MLS pretty popular or about the same as the NLL?

At my school... NLL has more reconition since they were on NBC and Lax players are more popular then soccer players on a average basis.

OK...getting this thread BACK on topic...
Lacrosse movie...
Ten Bears...
This is a great book...and I don't like to read much...I hope they make it and do it justice...
Other lacrosse movies are:
Keeper of the Kohn - Movie about equip manager of middlebury for 30+ years...slightly retarded...the movie is a documentary about him and how he changes the lax players' lives through the year...
Little brother of War - horrible movie...bad plot bad acting...

i heard kyle harrison is going to do some of the action shots in the Ten Bears movie (i.e. some of the shots of his father playing lacrosse)--should be good!

i also wonder who there going to cast as the main characters

You'd think they'd get some of the Morgan State LC guys to be players for the action shots....

There are loads of talented African-American players who could do action shots--Bobby Horsey, Billy Daye, H. Alford, etc...
--Ten Bears should be a great movie--we can only hope for the best.
*How cool would it be to make a movie (maybe an ESPN movie?) about late 80's lacrosse?--Gait brothers, Air Gait--when everything was so raw and experimental?
*It also would be very cool to make a Jim Brown Syracuse movie, w/Roy Simmons Jr. as his teammate. **** Schaap in goal for Cornell...
I play and coach lacrosse and soccer. I will continue to do so in London. Soccer is an awesome sport in its own right. But if David Beckham decides to finish his career in the US, trying to popularize the sport even more a la Pele, soccer will blow lacrosse out even more.
I will try out for Team England in a year or two, and I will also try to popularize lax in England, but soccer is one thing that brings our whole planet together. It's bigger than big.

I wonder if they'll make Ten Bears into a serious drama like Friday Night Lights or worse turn it into some slap happy comedy like Adam Sandler's The Longest Yard.

A drama/documentary ish thing...
HOW could they make that into a comedy? There is NO way that would happen

When I get older in late HS there will be a movie project and I'll probally use something like that but I may not(it's more than a few years away.).

I wouldn't mind if they made Ten Bears in the style of Friday Night Lights or Remember the Titans...
As for movies, there is a few seconds of lax in the 1st American Pie and like 2 seconds in The Girl Next Door

i dont think there are any movies that are out that are about lacrosse, in the same sense as like mvp or air bud. the only thing lacrosse related is american pie and transformers. ap has a long scene of lacrosse but its more of the setting. in transformers there is just a glimpse of a lax goal in the background.
lacrosse just isnt mainstream enough to have a movie about it.

It's getting to that point though. All of my friends(in KY) know what it is and enjoy watching our school teams games and know whats going on. The fanbase at our school is better for lacrosse then a ton of "main stream" sports. You will see more people at the state championship lax game in KY than swimming, golf, tennis, soccer(itd be a close one), track, and cross country.

Cheaper By The Dozen: Little Girl has a lacrosse stick

The Movie of Ten Bears has not had any updated info since it was anounced about 1-2 years ago. This would have been the perfect time to release it. Lacrosse and race in the national news coverage...this story could have been big...

this is a crazy idea but what if they made a movie about duke?! like about the rape charges and stuff and how the season was cancelled and then the charges were dropped and the team had their big come back and made it to the finals then lost :(
it'd sort of be like friday night lights how at the end they lost their game. and if they started on the movie now the real danowskis could play themselves and same with all or most of the other teammates!
i thought this was a good movie idea but maybe i'm wrong. what do all of you think?

you are completely right, what is holding them back, i guarantee every single lacrosse player would go and watch that movie, but i am sure they do not know that. And non-lacrosse players because of the duke case.

io think it is a good idea, not only show some lacrosse footage, and lifestyle, but also show some political views and such with the duke case.
And although i loved the movie friday night lights, it always pissses me off bigtime at the end, because i guesss i am just one of those people who like the good ending movies...
i think it would have been a better idea if duke won in the end because of all that they went through, but still would be a really cool movie. touching to alot of people.

I don;t know how well duke lax players can act...i know they can ball...but acting is different...besides some might not want to go through the emotions of reliving (literally) the whole saga again...
This is not something we would want either...it just stirs up more of the same racial tensions that are just settling down...even though they were innocent, there are still many that blame them for having the party, and still many who think the rich white boys took advantage of the poor black girl...
part of the same reason they shouldnt sue the mentally disturbed accuser...bringing the subject back and beating it with a dead horse just wont acomplish anything but more tempers...

I think it could turn out as a pretty good movie, but I think it is too early for it. If it were to be made, I think it should be in at least 5-10 years.

I definitely agree with this, people could easily get the wrong impression of the sport.

My Coach Donnie Brown Was one of the original ten bears believe it or not and i see Miles and Kyle Harrison on a regular basis (comes out to alot of our games) we play in b-more and the teams sponsered by Trilogy which is pretty cool he doesnt really mention the the ten bears that much he just says that he was apart of them cnt w8 to see the movie and find out more about them
