Ugh. I just bought these because the coach here at my school said she did not want me using any other ones. I played my first game with them yesterday in an indoor league and let me tell you now much I hate them! Lol first of all I had forgotten to put them on, they were resting on top of my head until the ref said something. Secondly, they go out so far from your face that one girl's sick got all up in the cage when she was defending me. Third, I am not used to wearing them at all. The bars and sides restrict your periphrial vision and It is very hard to see balls coming from above (falling balls, clears, lob passes). Also when I first used them they irratated my face though in the game they were allright. Also, the mask shifts around a lot thoughout the game.

My advice? Get something else.

goggles are just awful no matter which way you look at it. I played with the lense goggles last season and had to stop because they fogged up, hurt my face and broke for no reason. My school bought the iris as a school so I think i'll have to wear those.....grrr. can't wait for the season

Had 17 girls wearing goggles for the first time at an indoor workout last Wednesday. The Bangers fogged up and the girls wearing them complained. The girls wearing the Iris cages said zip. Boys who wear helmets for the first time take a while to get used to them. Same same.

on top of all of that, the women i know that play college lax say the game is much rougher this season, now that people are wearing the goggles.

not a good thing at all, if the womens game turns into the mens game, i will be really sorry to see the more graceful womenns game disappear

yeah i completely agree. i like that womens lacrosse is not as physical as mens. i also noticed that the game got rougher after my school started wearing goggles. im only in highschool but someone wuold get checked in the face or goggles atleast once a game. so i guess its good that we wear them, or maybe they are just getting checked mroe b/c we started wearing them?

i said this in a different thread too so sorry if youve heard this already. anyway, we tried actual helmets out here in IL for a lil and the girls just went crazy with their checks because they felt "safe" with the helmets. i wouldnt mind it so much if girls lax became more like guys....but back to the goggles. i put on the iris ones in a store and tried playing with them and they felt really heavy and cumbersome on my face. i wear the bangerz lens goggles and much prefer them to the iris ones. mine dont really fog up, even without that spray stuff

brine is making fairly comfortable cage goggles taht arent as itchy on your face, I like them alot better than the cascades.

when i was in college they tried a similar thing in MA with the HS girls with much the same result, lots more injuries.

when my daughter is old enough to play, i hope the girls game hasnt turned completely into the mens game. i'm looking forward to seeing more Wlax

In Canada we don't have to wear the goggles at any level of the game. My team went to a tourny in the states this yr and all the american teams had the goggles, but only my team and one more team didnt because we were Canadian.

there used to be no rule on googles but starting in 05' i believe there making the field players wear them (U.S.) so basically people are getting used to them now rather then later

I like brine's eye masks more than cascades; Cascade's eye masks feel way too prominent. I think debeer is coming out with their vistas for the 2005 season, as well as STX's 4sight.

kay so i know that there are way more cage goggles out there now. and from what i hear, i wouldnt want to get the cascade. but does anyone know anything about the brine, stx or new bangerz? im just unsure of which one would be the better.
also. out here on the west coast, no one has been wearing goggles. but starting this year we all have to. even without them, we had some wrap checks and balls breaking noses and such. so if the play get rougher, i hate to see what its gonna be like around here.

The Brine goggles make you look like a frog. They're BIG. They dont stick out as much as Cascade's but their wide.

I've tried the STX ones on and I fell in love. Low profile, elegant look to them (as much elegance as possible anyway), and great vision.

DeBeer's ability to change from goggles to cage is nice but I dont get WHY you'd want to.

I'd want the STX if I had the option.
