HEY!!! thats my pocket!!!
I was just about to put it in here! too bad BigDMan already did! Thanx man! saved me some time!

Here's the skinny on the Jersey Pocket-
Lax n Brew's "Jersey Pocket"-
I wanted to get a new pocket for my Warrior Razor, something unique that no one has. I was looking anywhere and everywhere for insperation. I found it on the field. I was practicing in full gear at my favorite wall, and for some reason when i looked down my practice jersey caught my eye. So when i got home, i started examining it, seeing if it held its shape, if it would tear, and if i could even string shooters through it. I pounded it as hard as i could with a pocket pounder, ran shoe laces through it, and found out you cant stretch it under any pressure. The next day right when i woke up i took off the Dura that i already had on. I cut a strip off of the sleve on my practice jersey (7inches wide x 14inches long). I put the sidewall strings in every 4th hole. I used a piece of elastic i cut from a Brine Ball returner to tie the pocket to the throat (to give it a little more cushion while catching). For the shooters, i used a nylon at the top, two laces, and a circular piece of elastic of a bottom shooter (it was bunching up before i put the elastic on. Now it gives as soon as the ball rolls over the elastic and eases it into the shooters).

It's release- This is by far the smoothest release I've ever felt with a new pocket! It isn't broken in yet, and its already releasing much smoother than my other Razor w/ dura that i've been using for over a year and a half!

Cradling- It is made of thin (but strong) fabric, so the sides hug the ball and dont let go.

Fakes- You can do such fast fakes with this pocket, you dont know if you threw it yourself! It's sides give in so much, you can wait till literally the last second before you flip your stick around, and it will stay secure within the pocket.

Advantages- The best release I've ever felt, great cradling capabilities, and fakes that might even fool you! It has the cushioned feeling of soft mesh, but the depth doesn't change each time you catch the ball.

Disadvantages- It takes a long time to string, and can be pretty confusing when your counting the holes (when attaching it to the sidewalls). Also, if you dont put an elastic shooter in, the pocket bunches up when you shoot or pas and gives you way too much whip.

hhaha that is the COOLEST thing i've ever seen, and i bet it works really well beucase it won't stretch, but the thing is, is it as STRONG as mesh?

Yea that looks awesome. Is it durable, i bet it would be, just depends how strond the jesrsey is

i have a feeling the Jersey around the edges where it is strung will slowly rip out as you catch passes. :wtf

bigDman
07-06-2003, 08:06 PM
he has it rolled uup like 3 or 4 times around the edges to prevent that

lax n brew
07-06-2003, 11:14 PM
yeah! as long as you roll it up a few times, its fine. I made the mistake of not doing that w/ the first one, and it did rip. But when its rolled up, it works great!

probably works awesome in box, but did you try it in field, how is it with bad weather, cuz i did that with a basketball mesh net and it stretched un bearably in the rain.

you know what else works great canadian boys, cut a piece from a hockey net in an arena that has been shot at a million time and use it has a mega mesh, it's though to fit it evenly, but once you do, it's sweet, wich i could send pics, but.....

I hate to break it to you, but I don't think it's original. Word is that mesh pockets were invented when some dude at Navy took a part of the mesh bags they had and put it in his stick for a pocket. Anyways, it looks good now however, but I hope the sidewalls don't tear the mesh, let us know how it goes.

Dude: It does look cool and not to rain on your parade or anything, but I have seen this before on e-lacrosse! In fact, the geek on stick tech use to do this type of "jersey" stringing when he was younger!:bye

Sorry, didn't realize that someone else pointed out that it had been on e-lax!
