I want to dedicate this thread to Coach Diane Geppi-Aikens, the former head coach of the Loyola Greyhounds womens lacrosse. Diane was battling a brain tumor, I'm sure many of you saw her article in Lacrosse Magazine, back in March. She also appeared a couple of times on the evening news. Diane sadly passed away last week. I hope you all will take time to acknowledge her on this thread. We have lost a part of our family. WE LOVE YOU, Diane...

at one of the camps i attended, i was fortunate enough to hear her speak. she brought courage into the group of girls that was there, and acted so strong, it made a lot of us cry. I know that in my heart she'll always be the one that inspired me and gave me the strength to start coaching, and fulfill the goals i hoped to fulfill

Diane coached me back in 99 at the Loyola College Lacrosse Camp and helped me improve my game tremendously, and gave me lots of confidence in going further in the game of lacrosse, I only wish that we had had more time together both on and off the field.
You'll never be forgotten especially by those who love you (family, friends, and your lacrosse family) You truly are every laxers inspiration...

Being from the Baltimore area, Diane touched a lot of lives in the lacrosse world. She helped build Loyola to what it is today, and helped women's lacrosse grow in general. She was an amazing person who exhibited such amazing strength and courage, and she will be greatly missed. The lacrosse world will never be the same without her, but has changed so much because of her. It was a true inspiration to people across the country to see her fight, lacrosse player or not. I hae learned so much from her, and I hope that I can continue to carry her message with me in my lacrosse years to come.

I really don't know that much about her, but from what I hear(and what people have said here) she was a truly inspirational woman. She was on the national news more than once, and I have to say it was very well deserved from the bit and pieces that I saw. It's a shame that Loyola didn't win it all this year, but in the broad scheme of things it just doesn't really matter. I did hear thought that she told her players afterword that she would be back next year, and from what I've heard she believed she would be even as sick as she was... This is truly a sad day for the lacrosse community, all those that were fortunate enough to have played for her, and her friends and family. May god bless her soul.
