in tampa, the two big schools are plant and jesuit. There is also tampa catholic, but they aren't as good. Plant is public but jesuit is catholic. Jesuit is better but not for long i think. They both have ok defense but i bet either team would want someone new who can handle the ball on defense. do u know which school you are going to go to and how long have you been playing?

Hey Dman. Don't listen to stix1025 he probably plays for Plant. I think there are around 11 teams in the Tampa area, Tampa Jesuit, Clearwater, Plant, St. Pete, Mansota(different name now), Wesley Chapel(my team), Citrus Park, Tampa Catholic, Freedom HS, and FishHawk. The top 4 teams are Tampa Jesuit, Clearwater, Plant and Wesley Chapel. This year Jesuit played us in the Tampa Finals and won. Almost any team in Tampa is going to try and get u to sign up for them. All of the teams are club except Plant, Jesuit, and Tampa Catholic. If you know what school you are going to it would help alot to find out what team you should join. I'm assuming by North Tampa you mean New Tampa which is where I live. The two teams that are closest to you are Wesley Chapel and Freedom. Go to Tampabaylacrosse.com to get the scoop on all of the lacrosse going on in Tampa. My team would love to get another good D-pole because this year we lost two of our starters.

Marflax, lacrosse in florida is only big in Orlando, Miami and gaining some popularity in the Tampa area. And ur from Idaho? I played against team Idaho on a traveling team in the Vail Shootout and we destroyed them 11-3 I think. I can't really remember anything about that game except that they were better cheerleaders than lacrosse players. For example "Idaho lacrosse, WE LOVE IT". those guys were a bunch of jokes.

Alright CFLaxer, I'm not going to name anyteams that I am still talking to, but I was one of two players from Florida that were invited to a Yale camp that was only open to 100 elite players in the U.S. I for one know that you weren't that other kid because you don't play for St. Andrews. I also was talking to PC for awhile and was intvited to their elite camp. I'd like to hear what schools are interested in you.

I dont know if i would go that far, i played up north and went to the NY state finals and all that at SU. And i've seen some kids from down here that could compete at the level that they play on. I know that Mcdonogh killed st. andrews, but that doesnt mean that St. Andrews doesnt have some good guys. As a matter of fact they have a 3-time all american on their team. So u cant base a single players skill on how the best team from florida did against the 1st ranked team in Maryland, and the tied for 1st team in the nation. I think it is a no brainer that teams from up there that have had programs for decades will be better than the teams down here that have been playin for a shorter peroid of time.

Every region has a kid that can go the distance and play at the higher levels. At least, there is always someone that says so. The majority of high school programs in places like Florida have no concept of the committment involved, even at the high school level, of teams back up north. Yes, there are exceptions and yes the kids work hard, however, the difference in the level of play remains enormous.

He was their whole offense and I shut him down. This guy against the club state champs had 6 points and against the runners up he had 8. I think that proves shomething about my skills.

If you had any bit of common sense or lacrosse knowledge you would be able to tell no matter how bad an area is at lacrosse, if someone can average around 10 points a game then they do have some talent. I was then saying that I was able to shut him down to a point that no other team's defense (I shut him down that entire game without needing help from a slide or anyone else) could. I guess I was wrong to assume you had more knowledge about the game than a 10 year old. O Well :whyme:

I played with that kid this summer. He was a big blonde kid right? That kid was a monster and he had a cannon of a shot (I got hit in the leg by it). He was pretty good overall and he was awesome at facing off.

Haha! Nope, I'm 41 years old. My son is 10 and is a goalie for a local Seminole County Lacrosse League team in the Longwood - Lake Mary area. I've never been on a team, but enjoy following lacrosse ever since I went to UVa.
