View Full Version : Live from the World Cup
Hey everyone...
Just so you all know Inside Lacrosse will be providing round-the-clock coverage at the World Cup all week long. Right now I'm sitting along the banks of the Severn River... be sure to check out Insidelacrosse.com... we'll have game stories, score updates (live) and I've we've even got our very own blog going... It's a good time out here. If you can't be here---you might as well do the next best thing.
I like the blog!
Sonia Judd looked great for Australia yesterday. They were pretty relentless on defense too.
U.S. looked a little sluggish against Wales. Kelly Amonte Hiller took over when they needed her to.
I think the Americans will have to play better to beat Australia.

I've seen the world at its finest! OZ lax is amazing this time around. I've never seen the game played better-and the fan section is amazing! If anyone is there you can see me sporting my Sonia Judd pin (go #11!) and OZ Lax polo during an Aussie game. Otherwise, check out the USA games. I'm going away to camp so I have to miss Sunday (missing the biggest game yet, AUS vs USA) but I'll be back in a jiffy.
Sonia Judd is indeed fantastic, as she proved it yet again today against England, who put up a good fight to the bitter end but just didn't have enough to get past Australia. Jen Adams throws out great checks all over the field and has been great behind the goal setting up her teammates. Sarah Mollison and Casey Magor, the two yougins are doing well. Also notable is Sarah Forbes, Stacey Morlang, and gosh, the whole team really!
The USA did great against England but I missed their Wales game. Today, against Canada they were off slow. If they're gonna beat AUS they need to do better. AUS held Canada scoreless for the better part of the first half of their game, shutting them down by riding on clears to force bad passes and turnovers. Tonight, Quinn Carney and Lauren Aumiller were great to watch on the field, as well as some good plays by Rachel Becker, among others.
NZ put up a good effort against Japan but they are a fabulous team. speedy, great skills (they'll pass around you up and down the field all day any day), and tons of communication. I predict they'll rise out of their traditional 7th.

i know the championship game is on CSTV, but I don't get CSTV :( ... anyone know how much it costs to get it on Directv for like 1 month or less?

I didn't see the US game, but Mollison looked great against Canada--a goal and three assists. The assists were tied with Jen Adams for the team lead in that game.

Mcharg is doing great, same as Mollison. I'm super psyched for her to come to MD, she looks even better than Magor.
And cannon.... OY OY OY!

adam, I saw your booth at the vendor village. Are you there? If so I'd love to stop by and introduce myself.
Unfortunately I'm up in the press box all weekend... But be sure to introduce yourself to the rest of the IL staff if you want. Hope everyone is coming out today-- all three games should be good today. Wales wants payback against Japan, although I think Japan is a better team... they execute as good, if not better, than any other team here. Canada got whooped the first time around against England, so expect a fight from them, especially because they've been playing well lately-- despite last night's score... the score was, at one time, 10-7 Australia. And the U.S.-Australia is, well, U.S.-Australia.
Congrats to Japan for another win over Wales.
I like the Aussies, 12-10, over the USA

AUS 14- US 7
The question is now MVP
Sarah Forbes or Jen Adams?!?

I think that Jen Adams deserves it, but it sucks that US lost.

Well I'm stoked that AUS won!!!
And neither of them got MVP teh AUS goalie Suzanne McSolvin got it, 8 saves thats good. Well I was going off the score summary, thats my excuse any way!?!
I have a question though, who takes the cup home? The captain, coach??

A great Footscray girl. the club will be worse off when she goes to the US, without her spearing our womens teams we may find it a bit rough going to get the silverware.

Congrats to the Aussies, it was a fabulous game and they played their hearts out. The US just wasn't in it yesterday.
I wish Sonia had scored but the rest of them did enough. Jen was great to watch (she doesn't even need to shoot hard, I swear, she just fakes the goalie so well! Not to say she cant shooth hard), the goalie did really well (kept US momentum down) and was a crowd favorite, Forbes had great runs (she's wicked fast when she gets down that field), and Stacey also played really well. Heck, they all did. They had an energy and desire it just seemed that the US didn't have. The whole tournament I could just feel it and I knew who was going to win.
Anyone else disappointed by the US fans? As a group we were so reserved. You could hardly hear them cheering, despite the smalll Aussie section. Granted the score wasn't inspiring but over the whole tourney I felt like we never cheered like the English or Welsh even.

Hey Adam - what happen? Intersting reading your BLOG until ... well .. Tueday when you stopped.
To be honest, after Tuesday things really started to get hectic at the cup-- and to keep up with game stories, stuff for the magazine and the blog was too much-- I made sure to still keep updating the scores and everything on the site though so you all could have info. All in all, it was a good event. YOu can still see a huge difference in talent level, though. I only missed a few games-- I saw 30 games over the ten day period so, I have to admit, I was kinda glad when it was all over.. that was draining.
