what is a good first string job for a player that has played for 4 years but has never strung a stick but really wants to learn how.

just buy a stringing kit from a local store or jimalax. Then look at some stringing guide's on here, Then start stringing. Remember, Practice Makes Perfect

I'd say start with mesh, then move to harder stuff.
