Hello! I am thinking about switching club teams. I know there have been other threads about which club teams everyone thinks are "the best", but I'm more interested in a good solid program, with good players AND good coaching. I am currently at NBC, and highschool tryouts are this winter. Any suggestions?
By the way-I am a goalie if that helps (2010).
Thank you so much, and if you have a suggestion, I would also love to know if you have any information about the club (i.e. phone numbers, e-mail address, websites, pics, etc!)

Heros, Skywalkers, and NBC all have teams and I think are in your area. M&D would be a possibility too but I'm not really sure where in relation to each you live. If you're happy with NBC it's not a bad program.

All of the teams are going to have good coaches and players so it's only a matter of which you like best. Ask around your friends or older players already on the teams. In terms of school break downs - M&D is known for Hebron influence and Skywalkers is heavily represented by Balt prep schools.

Anyone else have any recommendations? Also, if you have any information such as websites, e-mail address, #'s, etc. for what you are recommending, that would be great! Thanks for the recommendations so far, keep 'em coming!
Thanks!

The Skywalkers website is www.skywalkerslax.com
also...there is a new club called TLC which split off from NBC. They have Division I players as coaches, and it is a great alternative to the more established programs. I don't think their website is up yet though..

i think you should go where your most comfortable. i'm at NBC and was a little hesitant at first but have since grow quite fond of my team and the coaches. they really are a true family.

That's good to hear! This wouldn't happen to be J.T., would it?

Another club team is Check-Hers Elite. They're around Carroll County and Finksburg. Their website is www.checkherselite.org

Just out of curiousity...laxgirl0108..are you abby?

Nope! Sorry...my name is Ann lol
If you are thinking of Abby Bisbee who used to play for NBC and is a goalie, she switched club teams and is a grade older...

-Also, another quick question...out of heros, m&d, skywalkers, rome, and checkhers, are there any of the teams that anyone knows for positive are "set" for goalies. I am year 2010...
-I'd rather not waste time researching and trying out if they're pretty much "set". (Like TLC for example)

NBC is a nice club and one at which I would be comfortable having my own kids play. Like they say above, though, you have to go where you are comfortable.

Hero's 2010 only carries one goalie on the current 2010 team. They prefer to carry two goalies on each team so that they can split time, especially on the two day events where you play all day in the heat and need a break, or if one of the two of you goes on vacation or, knock on wood, gets hurt. So, yes, there is an opening for goalie on the 2010 team for next year. The team is a mix of public and private school kids. I think we have 26 different high schools in our current program. For information you can look at the web site, www.heroslax.org, or contact me off line.

Good luck and enjoy the rest of your summer.

Ooh okay, Ann.

Well...I play for check-hers but i play for the 2009 team so i'm not sure if the 2010 team has a set goalie. You could email Tracey Rohrback at trohrback@adelphia.net--she could tell you what you need to know.

Thanks for the info! Do you have an e-mail address, or is there someone else I should contact about further info?
Thanks,
Ann

I am probably going to tryout for NBC and Heros, I would consider Rome, M&D and Skywalkers but I have heard they are probably set for 2010 goalies, anyone hear otherwise? I've also heard great things about Check-hers, but think they are probably located too far away from me. Thanks for the advice, I'd love to hear more opinions!

for m&d it looks like there are 2 teams for 2010 and there are 2 goalies for 1 team and 1 goalie for the other. what's the difference between the two teams and are there spots on their teams for highschool?

M&D usually splits teams into black and red. Black is considered the better team for the age level.

the only 20120 team they have 1 goalie for is the red team (which is the team below black). i think their tryouts are in february..? i could be wrong.
