I know a very good player (will be a freshman this fall) who is moving to Pocatello, Idaho. He is worried the won't be able to play lacrosse there.

What's up with Idaho HS lacrosse? I know they have a few teams but geographically, what are the options for a kid in Pocatello?

I looked and it seems that Pocatello is a small town and doesn't have lacrosse. Maybe he can go to one of the other schools though.

Right now, HS Lax in Idaho is growing at a very rapid pace. Heck, my team just started last season. As far as Pocatello Lacrosse goes, i really don't think its happenin. Its really to far from where most of the schools play (and on the opposite side of the state), the closest lax team to my memory is Hailey (Sun Valley), and thats Quiet a ways to travel to school, and even farther for games... But then again, i really don't know anything about Lax and Pocatello, so who knows, maybe they have a team or club or something.

It just seems like its a really long ways from where the main concentration of lax is in Idaho, so to be final, i think the chance of a team, let alone a competitive team is very, very slim.

I've been to Pocatello. His worries are well-founded. How good does he think he'd be at rodeo?

i spent a summer in idaho (idaho falls), and it was the worst experiance in my life. lacrosse is growing there, but there wasnt any when i was there, and this was 2-3 years ago. One kid came up to me and asked what i was doing and i almost cried. And (no offense to idaho-ers) i thought the place in general was incredablyy boring. hopefully theres more lax there now then there was when i was there.

if hes really serious about lacrosse, and thinks he coudl get a college scolarship or something, he could try going to a boarding school on the east coast.

i spend 3 weeks a year in jackson hole, wyoming (its a ski resort town) and i didnt see any evidence of lax in the schools there but the tourists are def. bringing it there. i saw maybe 5 people a day wearing some sort of lax clothing and i saw one house with 2 nets in their back yard. i brought my stick and even some of the locals came up to me and commented on how lax is booming across the nation. i had the opportunity to go tandem paragliding, and my instructor, a wyoming native his whole life, was fully aware of lacrosse mainly because his wife played d1. i guess the point of this is that even if there arent any teams in the most remote places of this country, there is still a pretty big awareness, which in itself is a huge step forward.

Does Pocatello have a high school, or a post office, of electric light. I think that it has like 6 bars and a auto parts store and that's it.

It's a division point on the Union Pacific Railroad. The railroad brought money to town. Pocatello is also the home of Idaho State University.

Pocatello is fielding both a high school and junior high team, and will be travelling to utah to play some games. Their coach told me it is actually closer to Utah than Boise.

You might try posting to this group.... the Idaho crowd is farily active, they've got three or four teams at Vail currrently.... They are definately in the formative years but they are having fun.... Besides a lacrosse player form Idaho might just make some college recruiters day, OK it likley won't be a DI recruiter but, you never know

I thougth to add that should one find one's self in the positon of say going to Pocatello, and wanting badly enough to play lax, it would look really good to a college recruiter if that individual went out and invested his time to help build or improve a program. Colleges love that sort of iniciative and desire..... OK I sound like a recruiter don't I? but I swear I'm not, just an guy in front of a computer with no match to play till sunday afternoon.... :nofear:

Any teams from Idaho interested in coming down to Reno, Nevada to play Galena and possibly others for a few good games?
