I just finished my junior year in hs and though i am talking to college coaches and going to tournaments I have an interest in possibly going to college in england. I know of schools in england that have lacrosse, but it is unclear what to do as far as contacting a coach. Do they recruit players for english teams? Does anyone know what college lacrosse is like there? Does anyone have any reccomendations for schools in England? Thanks

uhh considering the fact that we are so much ahead of them in lacrosse and that we killed them maybe yuo should stick with the US. you probably wouldnt develope as a player if you went to college there. unless you were looking to be a star and not really get a whole lot better. no offense to the english its just that we are so much more advanced in that area

Yes

We do have College Lacrosse in England but we don't have scholarships and it is of a much lower standard than NCAA Division 1.

Loughborough University is the top women's lacrosse College they have won the BUSA Final the last three years. Two of the England players in the World Cup played for Loughborough in 2005. Lucy Lynch #9 and Alison Smith #16.

If you just want to Coach in the UK, there is a Development Programme run through the English Lacrosse Association (ELA) where usually College graduates are recruited to come to England and Coach/Teach in Schools for 12 months. Some have been offered full-time posts after their initial contract runs out.

There are also Local Developemnt Officer (LDO) posts available at some lacrosse clubs where you are hosted by a family, get a car and Coach Pop-Lacrosse in primary schools Age 4-7, or junior schools Age 7-10.

Hi

I am currently at Loughborough Uni and am keeper for the womens 1sts. I would really recommend you coming over here to play. We play to a very good standard and have fun while doing it. We recently played host to a couple of male players and they absolutley loved it.

If I can be of any help let me no.

Not only is Loughborough the place to be in the UK if you want to play sport (most national sports are based here) we are also a top 10 uni.

Playing lax in eng is very different, the standard is not as high and not as many places play, the institutions that play are part of BUSA (british universities sports association) http://www.busa.org.uk/fl/lacrosse_leagues.asp. If you would like to play while studying in eng check out www.ucas.ac.uk for uni's and courses available.

If you would like to coach, read the info sent posted by uklaxfan.

also, you can get scholorships but you usually have to be elite standard, most of the lax players i know that recieve them are all playing for their country at senior/u21/u19 level. also as lax is not as big over here, most unis dont have coaches.

To contact uni teams, email the ELA and they should be able to help you

You might be able to do it while studying abroad. Just another thought.

Kudos to you for thinking about going to college somewhere other than the US! It is great to hear people talk about what other countries offer.
