WI Laxers,
This is Coach Boyle from Competitive Lacrosse. I wanted to remind everybody to sign up for the WISCONSIN HIGH SCHOOL INDOOR LACROSSE LEAGUE (aka "the WHSILL") by September 1. Visit eteamz.com/whsill to down load a registration form.
The way our league is structured, players get to play with their High School Lax Teams for the WHSILL Championship. It's like the season before the season. There will also be an All-Star Game and we're expecting to get visits from college coaches throughout the season (several have already committed).
After reading all the commentary on the "WI-no haters" thread, I'm looking forward to reading everyone's predictions and prognostications for the up-coming indoor lax season. I'd also love to hear what people think about playing indoor lax next season and how we can make the inaugural season of the WSHILL an awesome experience for everyone.
We are already starting to fill up the rosters. The only way to make sure that you will be playing with your HS team is to register before September 1. Again, check out eteamz.com/wshill for more information.
We'll see you all this winter!

First off would madison area teams be able to compete in this league, and second of all would you be able to give us a schedule where we'd be able to be guaranteed an earlier game?

Butters14,
1) Players from Madison teams are welcome and encouraged to sign up and play. Players from Madison teams, just as players from Milwaukee teams, will be assigned to teams with other players from their High School team.
2a) We will do our best to make sure that everyone has a great experience in our league. Taking into account the distance that some of our players travel is no exception.
2b) However, I would have thought that Madison players would want to play in later games as opposed to earlier games (so you're not in a rush to get there on time)? Let me know what y'all think.
2c) If we have a good representation of Madion teams, which we probably will, then every team will have to play at least a game or two at every time slot. Otherwise, the same teams would play eachother over and over again.
2d) There's a possibility that the WHSILL will run at a Madison Location this year, in addition to the Milwaukee location. Keep checking our website: eteamz.com/whsill .
Amanda (the League Commissioner) and I are more than willing to answer questions. But be patient, we might not get to checking this board right away.
Thanks Butters

Just to be clear, we WILL do our best to make sure that everyone is able to play. If that means scheduling most of the Madison teams' games in the earlier slots, then that's what we'll do. This is exactly the sort of information and feedback that we need. Keep it coming.
Cards,
If this is not what you're getting at, then be more specific. We'll look into it.

He's movin to st louis thats what he means.
About the madison teams, if we couldnt get one team in specific coudl we just get random madison kids who want to play? I'm not sure how interested kids will be in driving to milwaukee. The reason I thought we'd want an earlier game is so that we arent getting home at midnight on school nights. If we could just get a group of kids together and make one or two madison teams then tehre woudlnt be as much of an issue with scheduling rather than more. I'm not even sure people other than me woudl be interested from madison because of the driving. Although i'm sure if you could get a league started at a location over here, we could have 2 different divisions like milwaukee and madison, and then have the winners play at one site or the other. Just an idea, because the league keva ran last year was incredibly unorganized so I'd prefer to figure this stuff out now rather than later.

Butters,
More great questions!
1) "About the madison teams, if we couldnt get one team in specific coudl we just get random madison kids who want to play?"
Yes. As we get registrations from Madison players, we'll start by grouping them together as one team. If an assortment of 30 players sign up, but there are 15 from Middleton, for example, then we'll separate out the players from Middleton and have one conglomerated Madison team. This is the same thing that we do for Milwaukee areas. The best thing to do is get 15 of your HS team-mates to sign up with you, then you'll all play together.
2) "The reason I thought we'd want an earlier game is so that we arent getting home at midnight on school nights."
That makes a ton of sense. We'll try to do it.
3) "I'm not even sure people other than me woudl be interested from madison because of the driving."
At the Brewtown-Showdown we conducted an informal poll of Madison players. Out of a dozen that we spoke with about the WHSILL, not a single one expressed concerns about the drive. I even asked one player directly if he thought the drive would be an issue for Madison players, and he said, "It's not that far. We drive to Milwaukee for stuff all the time."
Now, that's just guys who are excited about lacrosse. We'll see what their parents think.
4) "Just an idea, because the league keva ran last year was incredibly unorganized so I'd prefer to figure this stuff out now rather than later."
The WSHILL will be incredibly well-organized. The philosophy of Competitive Lacrosse is that players have more fun in a well structured environment where everyone is playing for the same title. Players will take the league seriously if the league takes them seriously. When both of those things happen, then the result is a high-quality, competitive game experience for everyone.
That said, a lot of the questions about Teams, Divisions, Schedules, the All-Star Game and Play-offs depend on the enrollment. We won't have the specific answers to those questions until registration closes and schedules are made. But, you can trust that however these things work out, the league will be well organized and Competitive Lacrosse will continue to take its players seriously.
Thanks again Butters

I guess another thing I just thought about as well... Some of the madison kids who play a winter sport will make it harder to get there. I mapquested to see how long it would take to get to the place its at, told me an hour and 45 minutes. During hockey season that would mean at the earliest leaving right from hockey I could get there at 7:15, assuming hour for a game doesnt end til 8:15. I still get home at 10 not having been home yet so I probably have homework. I'd really love to get out there and play, but is there anyway you could organize one at a madison location, or perhaps just a closer one?

~Jaron the bluechip was amazing so much better then the dixie you missed out. My coach was Andy Copelan from d1 marist. It was set up a lot better and 14 different d1 schools were represented on the coaching staff. We'll talk about it more later.

I just got info that says Keva is teaming up with Lacrosse America to run an Outdoor Fall League, a 7v7 outdoor tournament, and running an Indoor League for high school players.
No need to drive to Milwaukee.
