Philadelphia, PA -- The US Lacrosse Men’s Division Intercollegiate Associates (USL MDIA) Board of Directors recently conducted their winter meetings as part of the annual US Lacrosse Convention (Jan 8 – 12). During the meetings, the USL MDIA Board of Directors recommended three major changes to the MDIA National Championship Tournament.

First, the USL MDIA Board of Directors recommended the addition of a rest day during the course of the 2004 Tournament contingent on facility availability. Second the board voted unanimously to move the tournament to the National Sports Center in Blaine, Minnesota for the 2005 & 2006 seasons. And finally, the board unanimously recommended the addition of a Division B National Championship event as part of the 2005 Tournament. All the Board’s recommendations require the approval of US Lacrosse before implementation.

MDIA President John Paul noted the inclusion of a Division B National Championship. "We are continuing with our pledge to provide service to our entire constituency, and today we made a real commitment to put our money where our mouth is. I think the time has come for a Division B tournament. I'm excited to see those teams competing at a national level and having the same chance the A teams do to experience the tournament, which is the career highlight for many IA players."

The Board is in the process of creating a national A/B split criteria and will finalize this method no later then the 2004 summer Board of Directors meeting. This USL MDIA meeting is schedule to take place August 13 – 15 at a location to be determined in the Pacific Northwest. The Board will also determine the size and format of the Division B national championship by the summer meeting.
