like in basketball there is a 3 point line, well in alcrosse there is a 2 point line
not exactly sure but maybe 20 yards give or take a few from the goal???pretty much u score from behind this line its worth 2 points

i say yes cause ive missed one shot outa 10 from 15 yards out so itll give me a reason to do it more

there should be one cuz then it would give the harder shooters a reason to try out side shots + as a goalie it would be more fun 4 me

no because u know that like the three pointer in basketball it would further kill the fundamentals of lacrosse.
kids would pass up a breakaway for a two pointer

i think it would make games more interesting but at the same time understand it could take away certain aspects of the game like fastbreaks.....not to mention zone defenses would probably get killed....but i do like it cause then it would push people to get faster more accurate shots

I agree-
Players strive hard to get points, which could all be ruined be a couple outside shots. People still shoot from outside anyways a line would not affect their decision to do so in the long run. If you can take a rip then doit. but adding a two point line is just too much. :monkey:

yea, it would kinda ruin it i agree. that's what makes lacrosse more exciting i think, is that you either make a goal or you don't. there aren't like 2pt goals, 3 pt goals, bonus point goals, super extra point goals... that's just kinda stupid. you either get it in for a point, or you don't.

It was a nice for the MLL showcase the year before the teams were formed, it was a gimmick to essentially let guys like Casey Powell rip top of the box shots all the time to bring in new fans/show something new to get people hyped for the upcoming league. For the MLL, it's fine, I don't have a problem with it and it's something the pros can do with great consistencey. I don't think it belongs in the high school game, outside shots , especially with the distance for the 2 point arc are the shots your coach doesn't want you to take. The farther the shot, the easier time the goalie will have stoping it when you can work the ball around and get it inside for a closer goal that puts the goalie and d out of postion to stop the team from scoring.

On the high school level its all about perfecting the basics not showing off. Besides alot of kids start off in high school and the rules are confusing enough to learn as it is, why ad more. Sure MLL good... but not high school, baaaad! :nono:

im for it because if one teams behind alot they can make a quik comeback by shooting 2's

Thats the whole reason why its a crappy idea, on the high school level either your super good or damn lucky to make it from that distance, we don't have too many superstar players. So a crappy team can have one good attackman or a lucky game and beat the better team. it makes sense in the MLL but not in highschool.

It's dumb, because it's not even far enough away to make it really tough. Elite box players can frequently pick corners from that distance on smaller nets (See half of John Grant's goals as a Knighthawk for proof). Not sure why some of the MLL shooters aren't ripping more from up-top.

I agree b/c kids pass up a break away for a 3 pointer in B ball

Its Great for highschool,,, it is a very tough shot unless ur shot zooms in around high 90's goalies in the world RockStar... you all are all prolly reacting the way people did when the 3 point line was put in in basketball... it makes another option too win the game when ur down by one just giving someon more respect if they can hit form 2 point line

how is it great for high school, because its a hard shot? thats the most stupid thing ive ever hear.... oh wait because it resembles basketball? no dude those are the two dumbest reasons ive ever heard, and to say were just bickering about it. of course we are cause it is a bad idea, Lacrosse is Lacrosse leave it alone. In my opinion MLL is a another variation, just like box/indoor/or college out on the turf. High school lacrosse is basic because it is supposed to be, why all of a sudden should we change it. Give me a good reason his time!

hey, i dont really care if we have it or not....honestly i would like it jsut cause we have some really powerful shots for high school level from 2 of our middies, & our plays always get screwed up by out crappy middie or attackmen so this would make it easeir in my case for us to get goals...but i could see why yall dont want it also....hey think about this though, how do you think b-ball fans acted before there was a 3 point line???i dunno if it was invented with one but i seriously doubt it

HdGLaxWarrior

No because most likely the goalie would stop the shot, it'd be a waste.

I think it's fine for the MLL, but I wouldn't want to see it at any other level of lacrosse. As someone else said, I think it would kill the fundamentals of lacrosse. Also, I think it'd take away alot of the teamwork that it takes to get that awesome goal off of a fastbreak. People would just shoot from the two-point line instead of making the pass.

The 2 point line is fine in the mll becuase its a professional league and the players are good enough to know when and when not to shoot from behind the line. It just wouldn't work in high school. It would be like the 3 point line in basketball. Its cool and makes the game more exciting, but it leads to a terrible shot percentage. In other words more shots would miss terriblely than actaully go in. It would just tear apart the fundamentals of lacrosse becuase most kids would just want to get a nice 2 point shot rather than work the ball around and play smart.

Lacrosse isn't basketball... soccer doesn't have a two point line and niether do many other sports. the sports that do normally did start off with them. listen all you have to do is weigh the pros and cons. IT would turn out to be more worse then better, just cause its a cool idea and would obviously be another way to catch up in a losing game quicker doesn't mean we should actually have one. Think of it like box and field... rules are a lil dif and so is the play, but field lacrosse is never ever played inside even though it is the same sport. Ultimatly leave MLL seperate from Highschool play just like box is dif from field.!.

Most all High school players can't rip a shot in the high 90's or even get to 90, so by the time the ball finally got there, the goalie would have an easy save. On the other hand, with MLL they can shoot that fast and keep accuracy on it and when people can do that, that's when it adds excitement to the game. I vote no for HS lax.

geggieman
07-15-2005, 01:24 PM
don't change the high school game, its great how it is. besides, like D Bay said, 2 point shots from a high school level player would probably be an easy save

NJLONGPOLE11

no cuz its only there to bring in more cash for the pros...

they added the two point line just to spice up the pro game cuz nobody goes to them and they were hopin to draw bigger crowds.

The 2 point arc was implemented in the MLL to let all the best lacrosse players in the world forget the fundamentals of team offense and take crank shots from up high. Something my coach would destroy me for, if I tried.
I would be very pissed off if they ever put any of the crappy MLL changes in High School lacrosse. Those changes were made to attract more fans and make the game more exciting...which I don't think it has done at all.
The point is, if we start trying to turn lacrosse into a fan sport, then what are we left with? I'll tell you what we're left with...another Arena Football. And they really went far didn't they?

LpLaX_10

no...i think its kinda dumb even at the MLL level...they should just make a box and hav to get in it just like in hs...i dont like it wen sports do that...they rules are different at different levels of play...

I think the 2 point line is a good idea in the MLL, but I definantly think they should keep it how it is for high school. The only thing that I think might change in lacrosse over the next while would be a shot clock, which might not even be added to high school games.

the only reason it's in the MLL is so fans will be amazed by someone who can rip it from up top.

high school is still for learning and development, and there is no need for a 2 point shot
