There's a kid that goes to Bishop Moore HS (near Orlando) who was AA sophomore/junior year, he'll probably be a three time AA (he's going to be a senior next year).

Mike von Kamecke is the guy at Bishop Moore you're talking about.

A word of caution when calling these guys "All-Americans." True, that's their official honor, but it doesn't mean they're the best in the country. It just means that they're the best in that region. There are probably a lot of guys, particularly from the northeast, who are not labelled "AA" that are better than other players from other parts of the country you get the label of AA. I pay more attention to the college lax team they wind up playing for as a better judge of how good they are, assuming I haven't seen them play.

well if that was the case then why are there so many more all americans in the northeast than other places in the country

Yeah I know his name, I just figured no one else would.

I agree with what you said about the "AA" thing. Also, at least down here, alot of it has to do with politics. Kids from traditionally better schools will get AA, 1st team, or 2nd team all star ahead of someone better, from a less well known school.

A good example of an all american not being as good as someone who didnt get those honors is back in 2003 when a player from lake mary high school (last name was supraner) got all american, look where he plays. Club at florida state. A guy from Winter Park (rob bickerstaff) , who got first team all district i think, ended up starting his freshman year at a D2 school called pfeiffer.

Yeah, our varsity coach from last year went to Pfeiffer at out of high school and graduated sixth in the nation. And you can probably guess, no AA award there.

Uh, Pfeiffer is not that big of a deal. Besides, the All American guy could have been offered to go to a varsity lacrosse school, but chose not to. Ya never know.

The number of All-Americans assigned to be named in a region is based on the number of varsity lacrosse teams in that region. Since the northeast has more teams, they get to name more AAs.
