for my first stick, should i get offset or non-offset? i have read that having an offset head for your first stick could cause some bad habits.

I say go with a good old straight stick. You will get the throwing motion down a bit better and they are great for learning how to cradle (its very hard to spin a straight stick). So i say get an odessey from great atlantic and knock your self out.

straight is the same thing as non-offset. If you start with a straight stick your stickwork will be better.

I'd say to get an x2. Although they've been discontinued for a while you can probably find one at ****s or a lax store.
x2 is an offset head....excalibur is the straight older version

Diablos had sort of a curve to them, not exactly off-set, sort of similar to the stx raptor IMO. Turbos = awesome. If you have a chance to get one it's a definate pick for straight heads.

they have an odyssey strung mesh head for 19.99. i need a shaft too. is it hard to put a shaft on? sorry for all the stupid questions

roycegracie47
07-11-2005, 01:22 PM
no it shouldn't be hard to put a shaft on, and since the head is a steal at 20, you should be able to get a decent shaft, of course I don't know how much money you have but do a search on shafts and you'll find a lot of answers to any ?s.

If your a begginer than go for an aluminum shaft or a cu31. They are both cheap and good for begginers. But definitley do a search if you have any questions about what shaft to get.

how about a brine throttle f10. i looked at the warrior alloy 2000 and saw that it gets dented up easily

Those are both aluminum. For a beginner they're ok, but will not last long at all. If you have the money a CU31 is a great start.

my first stick was an OZII on a F10 powergrip. it worked well for me, i would suggest it if you could get it a complete stick.
but if you're set on an odyssey, (still a great head) then you should probably get a warrior CU31. one of my friends has had one for more than 2 years and it only has a few dents. a great buy. but if you wanted to spend a little more money, i would suggest a DB803... light and strong, the perfect shaft and not too expensive. still might be a little expensive for a beginner though. good luck

roycegracie47

the perfect shaft
there's no such thing as the perfect shaft or head. db803 is a good shaft, but cu31 is a few dollars cheaper either should be fine depending on your budget.

I'd say get a shaft off of the for sale buying forum. You could probably get a cu31 there for like 20.00, or try www.Laxshopper.com and go to their classifieds.

roycegracie47
07-12-2005, 08:13 AM
Gait/debeer cu31 can run you around 30 to 40 the Warrior will run about 40-50 and the Gait db803 will run you brtween 49 and 58. If that's too much for you wallet right now, take mainlax's advice and watch the for sale/buying forum, laxshopper classifieds, or hit up ebay. It's all hit or miss but patience can find some great deals, for example last week on ebay there was a guy selling b/n harrows starting at 10 with the auctions ending around 30 so keep your eyes peeled for both straight heads (unless you went for the odyssey already) and cheap non-aluminum shafts

I love my odyssey, I went from straight -> offset but now I am back to using straight. Quick release, I think more accurate, I love it. Plus, they are hardcore!!

would it be hard to put an odyssey on a brine f10 or f15 shaft?

Brady
07-12-2005, 10:57 AM
It would be no more difficult than putting any other head on any other shaft. I feel like you've asked the same question regarding putting a head on a handle in 3 or 4 different threads.

Brady

No, you're asking the exact same question. Does a head fit on a shaft? Answer--yes.

no, i was asking about a specific shaft and head compination that was discussed on this thread. on the other thread i was asking in general. why are you getting so upset over this its not that big of a deal. it doesn't matter.

Or is it ridiculous?

no, i was asking about a specific shaft and head compination that was discussed on this thread. I think that you're continuing to miss the point that basically any head should fit on any shaft and if you go to every specific head thread and ask if it will fit on a specific shaft you're asking the same question over and and over and over again.
