There's at least 3 brothers of semi-reknown now. In addition to Casey, Ryan plays MLL for Rochester, used to play NLL for Buffalo until last week, now he has signed on to coach at Syracuse U which is where the 3rd brother Mike is a senior. The "talk" is that Mike is the best of the 3, Casey supposedly has said as much but Mike has been unable to win the big one in his college career.

mike won "the big one" in 2002.

Ryan is best right now (trust me) and Mike will be the best at the end of it all. Oh and Mike has a national championship you know. Oh, and this does not need to be in the Open Forum, its lax related, put it in general.

i think mike is the best of the 3(not that any of them are anywhere near bad) but all of them could only win 1 national title at syracuse in their carrers , unless mike pulls off something insane this year

mike has the most potential

We'll see about Mikey, but for now, Casey's the only one that's not too much of a wuss to play box (Ryan just quit the Buffalo Bandits).
Casey gets my vote for that reason alone.

well looking at The MLL i think Ryan is the best. Lets not foget the only year he was heatly the whoel year, he was the league MVP and leader in points. I think this year he puts up some crazy numbers.

Ryan, has a bad knee, and that could have been a big reason he quit as well. Of the two Ryan cared more about the NLL than Casey, not to mention that Ryan is the better player indoor and outdoor. Ryan is just taking his carrer in a different path then Casey. Oh, and I bet the only reason Casey came back to the NLL (and by the way left for no reason before, unlike Ryan) is because now that the NLL is coast to coast, he wants to get his name out there.

Ryan has had about two/three seasons (not exactly sure) with Buffalo, and in the others he was out for the whole season. In the MLL he played one whole season and parts of others. So the stats aren't going to compare to Casey in that respect. If Ryan never had the injuries he did the last few years, people could see he was better than Casey. IMO

ok.... I think Casey is the best right now by far... he is tied with ryan for all time scoring at syracuse and paved the way for the powell legacy.... He is the top figure in the marketing of the mll with his exposive play... Mike was the league mvp in 2001 but lately he has slowed down, not even seen as a real franchise player anymore while casey is continuing to do well and was the offensive mvp a year or two ago... But its all really opinion, imo casey is the best- there are arguments for both sides of the case though....
Mike has the potential to be great...
he is a phenominal (SP?) player who has already won the most prestigous award in college lacrosse as a sophmore..... He is presently 64 points off the record but he has the POTENTIAL to be better then casey..... Im not saying that this will happen, bc there are signs that he may not even play in the mll but he has the ability to do it...

Yes Casey and Ryan scored the same amount of points in there four years at Cuse, but if you look at this link. http://www.syracuse.com/orangelacrosse/agate.ssf?/orangelacrosse/statsPowells.html
Ryan got off to a slow start in the points race, and in the last two seasons at Cuse scored more points then Casey did in any of his seasons. So Ryan was hotter coming out of college Casey is the top figuer in marketing because he has is liked by a lot of kids and has been the best player in the league over the three years. Ryan did not get a chanse to be the best player in the league because he has been injured in the last two seasons, so he is not getting the playing time.
Now to look at how they play. Casey scores with speed and "a good first step" Casey has a well placed shot and knows when to shot. Casey also feeds really well. Ryan has all of that, but can play with more power, and with a harder shot. And as good as Casey is feeding and creating, Ryan is much better. Plus with Casey playing alot of middie he can be a liability(sp) on D.

Casey probably quit NLL the first time because the didn't like the tight quarters. Even with his speed and skill, he was too open to abuse at the hands of the tough defenders.
'Twas a treat to watch my hometown thugs, Terry Bullen and Pat Coyle, thump him around! Bullen's now retired, Maybe that's part of the reason he's back!

i still say mike is gonna be the best out of all of them does anyone know if theres a fourth powell
jmplax31
01-23-2004, 03:28 PM
Yes, I think mike will be the best in the end (if he plays). There is a fourth Powell. His name is Mason and he is about 9 or 10 I think. He plays goalie from what I hear.

mike has better stats than casey and ryan did when they played for cuse so mike is going to become a better player in my opinion
