to pull it off or to do it? to pull any move off all you have to do is (for slow peeople) do the exact opposite of the move 2 times and then the 3rd, when the D thinks they figured you out do it...like for instance, do a fake split dodge go to the right..do a fake split dodge go to the right...after getting burnt twice the D man will realize your favorite move and on the 3rd time will overcommit to his left (your right) and thats when you do a real split dodge...blllah for fast people just do it.

Watch one of your friends then do what he does and keep praticing it.

^^^ perfect set up for a roll dodge. D man is wayyy over comittied and from the looks of it it looks like powell is planting his left foot which would be the first step of a right roll dodge if you are running horizontally to the right. however if the goal is not directly behind that defender than that would be the perfect time for a split dodge to the left

that much is true but if the defender is any good hell just turn around and whack him harder on the other side

Not exactly. On the side would be a slash and that wouldn't stop him as long as the attackmen knows how to shield his stick. Holding him with the shaft would be a hold and we all no how easy it is to run through a stick. ;)

but most of the time in the MLL they don't call slashes unless it's right to the helmet cause i've seen some defenders smack the guy in the back pretty hard and not get called

The most important thing to remember is lacrosse is played in two speeds fast and faster. Just always do everything full speed and you will be fine. Never slow down.
Moves are good to know and learn. However, i was always taught and most coaches will agree that you should learn one move and perfect it so no one can stop you. Example: a recent grad from Whitter, CA, middie, on the same club lax team, and a good friend of mine. He has one move sweep a little right and come back left, to change it up he just goes left. Everyone in Florida knows he can only go left, no right at all, but he has perfected the move so well he cannot be stopped. He scored 6 goals in one game, and is usually our game points leader. He does all this with one move, that everyone knows.
What you should be doing, is spending at least 30-45 minutes every day on the wall, or at least 4-5 times a week. That is the best practice and advice you will get.
If anyone is interested I can email them a copy of a wall routine.

I hope you're not serious. One speed is not good. Two major things you want to do in a dodge, change of speed and change of direction. Jog up to your opponent then once you make the initial change of direction turn on the change of speed. That's my opinion, but I do have to agree with you, you should always perfect one move before moving on to the next. Good luck. :0

swim move is when you come up to the defender and take the stick one handed and go over his head...just a second, I'll find you a video

most coaches disapprove of the swim move. there are otehr moves if you find yourself in that situation.

Mark Millon's "Offensive Wizardry" video is a great tape for dodging fundamentals, among many other aspects of lacrosse. However, if you watch A.J. Haugen of the Long Island Lizards play, he makes a living out of "change of speed, change of direction". Snake~Eyes is dead on with his comment on that.
This season, watch Haugen start to appear to almost "jog" with the ball, to set his man up, then absolutely explode to the cage. When he adds a change of direction to it, the defender gets his ankles broken. A good hard split dodge is gold. The swim is a waste of your time. Good luck.

Ok, so a roll dodge is kind of like in basketball? Lean into the man with your non ball/stick hand then spin the other way switching hands when he commits to one side?
That how it kind of sounds to me, but I may be wrong.

And what about a split dodge?
Is that like a juke move or something?
Sorry I'm so confused, but the thing about changing speeds and directions has helped me alot so far in boxlax this year, i just want to know exactly what i am doing and if i'm doing it as well as it can be done.

roll dodge pretty simple you plant the oppisite foot of the hand you have the stick in then roll and switch hands while rolling otherwise it gets nothing done

a split dodge is when you are running at your defender straight on and you split on way or the other, usually most people switch hands from the one they start with when they split

yeah a face dodge is basicly a spilt dodge but you don't switch hands like you would in a spilt so say the stick is in your right hand you bring the head of the stick to your left side and thats it

Oh, so it's called a face dodge. Nice, that basic describes what I did indoor and got this big goof to tripped. I always thought that was what a split dodge was, but oh well.
Serves just as well.

ordinarily, it's executed over your defender, but powell does it over his stick...but you get the idea.
