Sounds pretty standard so far, Though is there any rule about moving your hands after the whistle is blown?

a couple other important things.
Hands must be on the ground, once you the referee says down and you go down you may not stand back up. Boths hands on the cross, players feet may not touch the crosse. Hands and feet of each player must be to the left of the head on his stick. THe shaft can touch the center line but may not cross it completely.
And remember it is illegal to kick or step on your opponents stick.
--------
And there's no rule about moving your hands after the wistle is blown.

You're not allowed to grab his stick of course. but, there is a move called the two-finger, where you pop your middle and index finger out and catch his stick when he clamps. it's totally illegal, but the ref usually wont see it and its pretty effective.
also, your not allowed to kick the other guys stick.
Oh, and big dman, if you have a smart opponent facin off against you, your move will only work the first time. all the other guy has to do is hit the ground and clamp at the same time, and you'll go right over top of him and he'll win. trust me, i;ve faced off against guys like you before.

i have a question for everybody that has pictures when they right a post next to their name, (me, MontclairLax). How do you get those pictures because mine doesn't have them.
when facing off, do all your knuckles have to be on the ground, or can u just have your fingertips on the gorund?

as long as the butt an head of your stick are on the ground, and bith hands are on your stick, it doesnt matter

sort of, if i get beat, ill put my foot where he about to rake the ball, so it hits my foot if he does rake. but i still try to muscle it out with my stick at the same time. most guys wont rake it into your stick like that so, id say its a bad move.
my coach at camp told me that whoever cheats best wins. i wanna try the two finger method. he showed me a whole bunch of awesome stuff.

just lose the tape. i just put a little, once around the shaft the firtst two inches under the head, that gives me enough grip for f.o.s

Good call, GeorgiaMiddie2, this works well & is completely frustrating to the raker. Step hard with your right foot upfield & also follow his stick up the line with your hands.

if you are facing against somebody that is using trad, it's really easy to get your finger in the mesh holes or whatever cus they're so big. just put a finger in the holes and they can't move their head. works pretty well for me. also, i put a lot of tape up top cus it makes it harder for the ref to tell where you put your hands and if it's illegal or not. when clamping, i try to have my right hand at the top and my left about 6 inches down the shaft. you then "scrunch" your head. put pressure on the shaft and your head will get lower down to the ground and you are then closer to the ball and have an advantage. what i'm saying is, cheat on every face off because you'll have a huge advantage on them. nearly everybody does so you might as well.

I'd like to try the move where you on purposely dont go for the clamp, and just put your foot and stick on either sdie of the ball, except if your opponent is even semi quick and realizes that u dont have the ball, a simple push would leave you in the dust, no?

no you can always hit him if he pushes it past you...
But the most helpful thing i was ever told on face offs was... "There are two kinds of players... cheaters and losers"--one of the LaSalle Lacrosse guys...
Oh yeah keep your hands the same as you would hold you stick
