contrary to what you may beleive, the best player in the midwest is not from wisconsin, and probably wont be for some years. This thread is spiraling downhill fast as i was hoping to get some feedback from illinois missouri indiana minnesota and ohio kids as well.

not to take anything away from this hurley kid, but he didnt even get all american (not to say its an easy accomplishment) but there were two other juniors in minnesota to get AA. The list of juniors in the midwest to get AA are
Lonny Blumenthal-Lafayette-attack(MO)
Micheal Cathcart —Blake-Midfield(MN)
Matt Dooley-Blake-Defense(MN)
Alex Cavalieri-Detroit Country Day-Goalie(MI)

i would like to contest that point. The wisconsin state champs lost to the kentucky state champions by 1 and were even up by 3 until there coach started putting in up there backups. Further more in the same tournament the wisconsin state champs lost to Eden Praire, who finished fifth this year in Minnesota by 4 goals. This would give the impression minnesota lax is better then the kentucky right? Since they lost to trinity(the best team in KY) by 1, and lost to EP (the fifth best team in MN by 4) Then EP played trinity and won by 2 goals. So if the fifth best team in minnesota can beat the best team in kentucky, i beleive minnesota can walk away comfortably and say they have better lacrosse then kentucky.
And regardless of the fact that Brother rice does not send kids to the absolute best lax schools all the time, they are without any question the best team in the midwest and to that point have better players then any team in the midwest. They have beaten top east coast programs such as landon, and succeeded at taking down every top program ohio and illinois has to offer. Although they may not have the single best player in the midwest, the kid was only making a point.
Back to the point this forum is about an individual player, not a statewise talent.

i played on the elite team at Notre dame but not at the dixie and along with those two, we just won the Battle of Hotbeds in DE, we went undefeated, 13-0 beating Long Island express's "big boy team"(quoted by a parent of the sophmore LI team at Notre Dame) it was a sweet weekend. we got probably some of the best looks by college coaches a minnesota team has ever gotten.
Ryan Hurley is on the team and he played on the all star team. he had a great weekend, throwin out some sick [no cursing] dangles like the "hurley bird". we dominated a tournament which we were told by the U of Penn coach that we were not going to win a game. it was TIGHTTTTT.

You should know that making all-anything is very political, has to do not only with you and how great of a player you are, but how much pull your coach has with the other coachs. He might not have made it and those two juniors might have, but those two juniors coach may have stuck up for them when it came to selecting all-americans/state/county, whatever. Unless there on the same team in which case the juniors are better, but Hurley is the best to graduate this year, and they will graduate next year and be fighting for the top spot. =P

i 100% agree with you. i played with the two all american juniors as well as hurley and hurley is prolly the better of the three. i also know the coach of the AA's and he is the MBSLA or something like that chairman so he is pretty high up in the minnesota high school lacrosse league and has a pretty big input im sure. that coach was also the coach of the MN elite team seemed to me as a guy that would do something like that.

Not to bust anyones bubble from Wisconsin, Minnesota or anywhere else, but without a doubt the most talented kids are from Ohio, even tho Brother Rice won the Midwest Tourny
I believe Brother Rice is sending 3 or 4 kids to D1 schools this year while the Midwest runner up Upper Arlington is sending 7 to division 1, with a total of 13 going to the next level. These aren't bad D1 schools either, Dewey is going to Virginia, others are going to OSU, Maryland, and Loyola.
Brother Rice was the Midwest Champ, no Doubt, but this was more because of a tricky zone D and tough kids, not because of pure talent.
As for the Best player in The midwest next year, Eric Reinhardt from UA, Colin Igoe from Worthington Kilbourne and Connor Anderson From Thomas Worthington have to be 3 of the best. I can't remember anyone from Western Reserve thats going to be a senior, so i cant comment on them, although they always seem to have talented kids as well

astyles is almost right. while d1 schools CAN give full rides, it's very rare that they do, because in lacrosse u can split scholarships among guys.
also, i live in michigan and my childhood friends r there but i play for an ohio team, so those r the two states i know most about. i'd have to say that colin igoe (spelling) maybe the best one he is wicked good.

Wisconsins sent a few to Division 3 and a couple to Division 2. Other than that most go on to play college club. I know verona has a couple kids going to Essex juco next year and are trying out, a really good team from what I hear but who knows if they can make it or not.

they are middle of the pack, they are for from "one of the worst" also Air Force has one of the most knowledgable coaches of all time in Coach Acee.
but on to my point. while you are technically correct that the academies dont offer athletic scholarships, they are all 100% tuition free for all students (other than your military committment after graduation)
