All right, guys. The 2005 National Boy Scout Jamboree starts on Mopnday the 25th and goes until about the 3rd of August. It is in Fort A.P. Hill in Virginia. There are about 45,000 guys going, so I must assume that at least a 100 play lacrosse, and hopefully at least one is a TLF member that will read this.

Is anyone here on TLF going, or know a lax player that is going?

I'm bringing my short stick, and since it's 10 days long, I'm definitely gonna have to throw with somebody. I'm in Troop 1629, which is in Subcamp 16. I know of ONE guy in my troop that is going witha stick, but I wanna throw with someone that is a little more experienced than my friend.

So, if you are going, please post your name and Subcamp, troop, anything else of importance (Credit card #, SS #)

That title made it sound as though you were supporting some sort of gay-kiddy-orgy...

But no, I am not going to attend.

I... Am a scout. I definately though don't like to go to these huge scout cult gatherings though, I really don't even like to admit to people that I am affiliated with the scouts either. I almost have my Eagle, so I have to stick with it...

My two brothers and I were all Eagles, and all of us went to one Jamb, my little brother and I made it to two. It can be a great experience, depending on how cool your leadership is and who's in your patrol. Now that I'm older, I realize that there are a lot of experiences that I've had through scouts that nearly everyone else missed out on. It really does build character, even if they don't like homosexuals and atheists...

My friend Jimmy might be going and he plays lacrosse, but he's not really that good. He probably won't go anyway.

I saw the scouts going to the jamboree when I was recently in nyc last week. my dad was an eagle scout, it was a huge dissapointment to him when I quit scouts in 6th grade. Did any one else hear what happened at the jamboree? 4 scout leaders died from being electricuted(sp)...its horrible.

there was an article on msn about it yesterday..apparenly a tent they were setting up came in contact with a power line or something. their sons went back to alaska.

Later on in the article there was something about how the aclu was going after the military for sponsering scouting and having scout related activities on their bases. A federal judge agreed with them, although the senate voted 98-0 to keep on allowing the Scouts to use the bases.

as for you boys making fun, your ignorance is clear. Do you know how many astronauts, members of congress, presidents, ceo's, etc were eagle scouts, let alone boy scouts?

OK...not to sound like a jerk...
but as you are putting a tent up next to power lines...don't you think you'd be careful?maybe look up and think...

thats like going swimming in a suit made of chum next to some sharks and thinking...meh...they're far enough away...

Yeah I'd think that would be pretty obvious. Kinda like playing wall ball on a power transformer...
