Ladies - all womans lacrosse sticks are sold at a standard length which is normally the maximum length a woman's stick can be.

What do you do, keep them the lenght you bought it or do you cut them down. If you cut them down - Why?

Goalies - you must cut the ones you buy because they all sold as men's sticks which are illegal (over 48") for the womans game.

I cut mine. The standard length is just too long, I think, unless you are like 6 feet tall. I have to cut it because the full length makes it too difficult to throw/shoot and its just harder to handle. My stick is very short because I'm an attacker and less stick means its harder for them to check me.

i only cut about 1-2" off of mine. i play attack, but i still like my stick somewhat long for defensive purposes (groundballs, interceptions, etc). it's just easier to handle without that extra length.

i leave mine the way it is. It helps my with draws and on defense it is easier to intercept passes bcuz of the longer shaft.

I help coach out youth lacrosse, and I have all the girls cut down their sticks. Cutting em down just makes it more comfortable for them. No need for a 32" shaft. I do see the point in defensemen using the max length (kinda like a long pole in men's lacrosse).

For goalie, I just buy attack length shafts. When I play field I like the whole attack shaft. Though one person on my team bought a shaft, and since she doesn;t like cutting them down, it was actually illegal for being too long. So many sure you double check when you get a new shaft, but I like mine long for D.

yeah you shouldnt cut any bc its better to have a longer stick...ie: grabbing draws or interceptions. it really makes a difference. plus i like the longer stick so im able to reach things.

Though most players would agrue that they are in control of the longer shaft, they often are not, taking a couple inches off only helps. Yes, some defenders have evolved to a level where they are able to take advantage of those extra inches, however, untill solid body defense is mastered a stick is sometimes nothing more than a bludgeon. As for ground balls, the farther you reach out for that ball the more target you give me to check. Get to it and through it.
Upper level attack specialists can do unbelievable things with a shorter stick as well.
Seems they manuever in crease traffic much easier without "hanging" their stick.
Basically its whatever fits the player best. Just dont be afraid to take a couple inches off, regardless of what others are doing.

i leave mine long. it doesnt seem too long to me. and doesnt seem to get in the way, although it does for several of you. i guess im just used to it being long.

my first shaft, i cut cuz it was easier for playing offense... but i didn't cut my current shaft cuz a longer stick really helps w/ defense etc. i think it's more challenging w/ a longer shaft, but with practice one can use a standard-length shaft effectively...

Mine is cut. I like it shorter (even though I'm a defender) because I have a better feel for it and can manuver it tighter into my body to protect it.

Mine's cut. I like mine short because it's easier to handle. Im not sure how long mine is...it's the length of my arm (from arm pit to fingertips). I dont like the long shafts just for the simple reason, that im not used to it, i've always used a short shaft. I tried my friends stick, and she never cuts hers, and it feels as if its not as much under my control b/c its lengthier....maybe its just my mind.
