I have only been playing a year. And this upcoming year is my Sr. year. and since i wanna play lax in college I need to be recruited. I am an athlete, i can dodge, pass, hit, run with Div 1 guys. What I lack is speed on my shot. Maintaing accuracy my shot is only 68 MPH for a middie.
What i want to know is what stringing and pocket is the best for shooting and tips on shooting plz. I am only about 15-20 MPH on my shot from scholarship money to play college Lacrosse.
BTW i am one of hte best Faceoff Middies in the region. I won around 70-75% of my faceoffs at camp. So if it really kills faceoffs have a warning that it does that.

If you are that great at face offs, you should just be an assist, or faceoff man. But, since you've only been playing a year, its hard to get a great shot. Shoot on a cage as often as possible, and try to get your hands 12-13 inches apart near the butt end. Get a good windup, and use a power cradle. Shoot overhand at 3 quarters, or full over your head.

15-20 mph is a huge increase and how do you know that you will get scholarship money once you scheive that. Anyways: use your legs and your hips to twist yourself around and your shot naturally gets faster as you practice

are you really good at mid?
I mean are you really valuable both offensivly and defensively,
are you valuable on clears, carrying the ball, feeding, etc?
If your not, chances are it would be hard for you get recruited.
Instead, work on what your already really good at: Faceoffs
A good FO man is really underestimated, coaches usually try to scout out one designated FO man
FO men are really valuable, always starting on offense after a goal is invaluable
adding speed to your shot: just shoot as much as possible
Its not always how strong you are, you'd be amazed at how much speed you can add to your shot just by better form
Try wrist rolls to add speed

I don't know jack about what's legal for faceoffs in US field, but what I do know is that some of the custom string jobs that I've seen faceoff specialists use don't throw worth a damn.
Its all about compromise!

there's one FO pocket where you slit a few diamonds and the balls pops into your pocket on the clamp, i guess if you strung a really low power v and kept the pocket in the throat you can get away with playing the fast break plus a win almost every FO as long as you have the clamp.

That pocket has been ruled illegal by the NCAA, and that usually means that it's illegal in high school.
