just wondering how many of you have those "livestrong" bracelets... or any of the other similar bands companies came out with after the "livestrong" success

and if you do own them... are they to support the cause or simply for style

I have a livestrong)...I dont wear it though becasue every one at my school turned it into a fashionable thing to do and i think thats bull so i dont wear it to school . I do it to support the casue. My mom is a cancer surviver.

I have a wristband from Children's Miracle Network.

The wristband is too ubiquitous now, it's lost its meaning. Example: Spensor's sells wristbands that say "*****" and "princess" and "best friends forever". That makes me angry inside... D: The bands were meant for good causes and now they're lost.

I wear the livestrong ones because i support the foundation and being a biker myself, i just do. footlocker sells them around here and you can get them from the website and get a 'free' one along with a livestrong hat if you pledge 25 bucks to the livestrong foundation. i just think, even if all these people wear them for fashion, at least, in my head, i know im wearing it for the right reason. it has started to die down in my area anyway... started to....

i bought some livestrongs and used to wear them. then all the kids in my school went and made it "cool" which really pissed me off so i just stopped wearin mine because other kids just stole them from people so they could be the trend. which really got me pissed. so, i did. until some kids ruined the meaning of them.

i have a few livestrong ones... i wore mine until the one broke and by then it was like a huge fad and it wasnt even to support the cause so i didnt bother to wear them anymore.

support rubber band things are stupid. if you need a little bracelet to show that you support the cause then do you really support the cause? how about just donating the full 2 dollars to a cancer donation instead of buying a bracelet from nike that donates some of the profit

i'm a cancer survivor and i've been wearing a livestrong band since before the TDF started last year.

i dont know if any of the other companies do this, but 100% of the cost of the livestrong bands go into the LAF coffers, lance armstrong pays to have them made out of his own pocket. what's really lame is i see people selling them for more than $1

i dont wear any of the others, one is plenty for me

I had 1 but i gave it away. After the started to make all these colors and stuff other companies copy make the same band that say some sh^t on them (best friend, hookers4life etc.) that look the same as the "good ones" only that the good 1s support real needing charities.
I dont own 1 any more but I tought myself how to do those hemp braclets. There cool and preppys will buy them from u for like $5-10 and the take 5 min to make. Gay hobby kinda but u could make a lot of cash and you can make yours way different to stand out. lol

I wear a Livestrong bracelet because I like what it stands for, and not as a fashion accesory. It makes me sick to see people selling them for more than $1 too. Also, I'm not sure if this is true, but I heard that $.87 of the profit from one bracelet went to the LAF, and other cancer agencies. But the other $.13 goes to Lance himself. Not sure if that is true.

And yes, props to Spenny.

I have a bunch of the random imitation ones laying around, but no livestrong. I don't wear any of them. My sister's friend died from a drunk driver and they made those with his name and date on them and gave them out to close family and friends, which I though was interesting. I also have two "Never Forget #40" pat Tillman bracelets I just got if anyone wants them that will wear them.

my uncle got really involved w/ the livestrong bands last july when they came out so i've been wearing one ever since, before it was popular. even though a lot of people wear it because its a trend i wear it because i support the cause. my aunt and uncle both died of cancer within a week of each other, my neighbor died of cancer, and a close family friend has cancer. i also wear the "one" band and i also wear a san diego padres band because they need all the support they can get

thanks guys, ive been cancer free for more than 10 years now.
ive been thru 4 or 5 of them, but i bought 40 of them last summer, and have giving them away ever since. i'm down to just a couple left, almost time to order more.

i dont know about now, but last year the entire $1 from each band was donated towards the foundation, nike paid for the first 1 million bands made, now lance pays for them out of his pocket. he does not make any money on the bands. i don not know if he has a paying job at the lance armstrong foundation or not.
www.livestrong.org they post all of their IRS info for anyone who is interested in checking it out

I hate it now because theres queers that like line their arms with 30 or 35 of these things most of which aren't even to support a charity. Even if they originally were (such as livestrongs) people at our school would get a hundred or so off the website then sell them back to people for 5 bucks each which is just morally a sick thing to do...leech off proceeds to cancer research...and trust me, they weren't giving their proceeds back to the foundations either, they were giving them to themselves.

If you have a Nike store near you, they'll have them. A bicycle store will have them, and maybe a sporting goods store.

I have a Livestrong one and I used to have one of the blue ones that had little stick-figure kids holding hands on it (it went to a foundation for children who survived the tsunami in SE Asia). I don't wear the Livestrong braclet often, I don't like wearing jewlery/the feeling of stuff around my wrist/neck.
