i'm not that picky when it comes to boys, but i do get quick crushes, where i'm like omg omg, i love him so much. then a week later, meh, he's alrite. my best boyfriend was one where we didn't do that much sexual stuff, but we went to athletic games, ran through paths together, or rode our bikes through trails and stuff like that. it was like... what friends would do together. yea romance got tossed in there, but on our 3 month aniversery, instead of something romantic, he took me to a uva lacrosse game, which i enjoyed so much! i'm not really into that mushy love crap, i'd rather just have a guy that i can consider as my best friend and boyfriend. i have to be able to tell him i'm on my period and not have him freak out. and go omg omg, ewww gross. i hate guys like that. chill out. its just blood.

Scotty - I completely agree with you! Well said. I understand what uh... the "m" word is supposed to mean, but I have never used it and laugh at the entire idea. The creation of that word itself (besides, it's idiotic - literally it means somebody who has sex with cities) is a product and symptom of a diseased culture, I believe. So we are supposed to accept the proposition that a man is either a beer (tasteless beer, rather) guzzling ape-like slob with barely concealed infantile impulses that have to be hidden from his "wife" (i.e. the all-knowing, oh-so-more-mature-than-him mother figure"), or a frivolous, fashion obsessed and non-threatening replacement for a real man desired by women who either hate or fear genuine masculinity?

There are many qualities of masculinity that transcend time and place - trends come and go, but what defines a real man, I think, is one who has outgrown childhood, and takes responsibility for himself and his actions, and looks after the needs of others dependent on him. His hallmarks are dignity, honor, courage, strength - those are the sorts of things that playing sports are supposed to teach, after all. So-called "met..." I think we should propose to our society and alternative vision of real masculinity. A real man:

-might be fit and in shape (and is not worried if he's not), but because he plays sports and keeps active, *not* because he spends hours in a gym vainly sculpting his muscles or due to not daring to drink a beer "because, oh my gosh! Beer is soooo fattening."
-knows that real masculinity is not measured in superficial things.

If you read my first statement in this post one would imagine that i hate beer, and that imagination is completely correct. so... why would i rate a guy based on it?

I real man honors and respects women, and expects that they will, correspondingly, honor him as well.
