Has anyone seen this movie? I heard it was a pretty insane movie. My friend went and saw it and he said it was really cool, but then again, hes kind of weird. On a side note, does anyone get the feeling that Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory looks like more of a scary movie then a classic movie?

sickest movie ever. I loved it. Personally I found Johnny Depp Hilarious. The quirkiness of his acting just made me laugh. I saw it two nights in a row, and still want to see it again.

yeah there were a few changes...like how it didn't suck. Seriously, I watched willy wonka and the chocolate factory the next night, and just turned it off halfway through. I never remembered it being so stupid.
On a side note, does anyone get the feeling that Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory looks like more of a scary movie then a classic movie?
by the way, it's charlie and the chocolate factory. The old one is willy wonka and the chocolate factory.
And "charlie" is actually based on the book more than "willy wonka" was.
To show how much I love this movie, ill tell you that I right now have a willy wonka background, and have downloaded all of the oompa loompa songs to itunes and am currently listening to them.

johnny depp's version of wonka sucks compared to gene wilder. I couldn't care less whether it was closer to the book or not, this one sucks compared to the original...

moi aussi. I think gene wilder was fairly boring. Johnny Depp was interesting, and quirky, which made the movie much more fun.

i really liked the new one. and i was kind of surprised because i like the original one so much. i thought that johnny depp was hilarious. and that tim burton did a really nice job with it, it was definately much closer to the book. and the oompa loompa songs were better in the new one.

Gene Wilder was the man.
The original one will always be better.

"Of course I'm out here, if I was up there I couldn't enjoy the show."
that line just tells you you're in for a Burton sponsored ride, and it's an awesome movie, and I think the Oompa Loompa songs are just as good as the original ones.

the devil's rejects? looks like an awesome movie to me. Probably will have an absolutely stunning plot and I definitely think it won't be all pointless violence.
But anyways...back on subject... I think tim burton is a very odd director, but that kind of describes this movie. He's made fun films, but they're always a bit weird and sometimes sketchy.

it'll be a matter of a classic vs. a flash in the pan.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is a hit, sorry to you few who did not enjoy it as much as the original. This is the real story written by Ronald Dahl, Willy Wonka, was not. Burton's creepy views that are characterized throughout his movie are perfect for Wonka's twisted secluded personality and attitude. The acting was far superior this go-around and will be revered by this generation as much as the old one was for previous generations. This film took a much more comical look on the story compared to Willy Wonka's more serious look at things. The screenplay writer was actually not allowed to watch the Gene Wilder version and only allowed to read the novel, which gave the film a much more true-to-the-story approach.
I honestly do not understand how anyone would not enjoy this movie, it is a masterpiece, and I feel will easilly out-do Star Wars: Return of the Sith in awards. Anyone who thinks the movie is going to be super creepy, I really recommend to go out and see it, you truley will enjoy it, it is definately a comedy.
I will rave about Charlie to the grave, and I grew up watching Gene Wilder's version. I had every song memorized, and watched the movie +30 times, this film I feel, is superior. If anyone has any more questions I will gladly discuss them, just respond.
Now go and see the movie of the year!

Johnny Depp fit the part for Willy Wonka so perfectly it is amazing. No other actor could have portrayed Wonka like Johnny Depp did. I noticed alot of the details that were just as perfect as they could be. I, however, liked the old songs better. I also wish there was more than just one version of an Oompa Loompa, even though I found it funny that it was just one guy, over and over again. Great movie, it was a work of art. I knew I had to see it when I saw Johnny Depp and Tim Burton on Comedy Central talking about the film. He is one of my favorites, if not my favorite actor. I loved Finding Neverland, Blow and Edward Scissorhands. And I am looking forward to Corpse Bride and The Rum Diary. Great actor. Great Movie. Everyone who disagrees, go away.
