What kind of gogs do you all wear? My team all wears the Cascade Iris' but I was curious to see if any of you wear the STX 4 sights or the new dB or Brines. It seems like the STX's would help more with peripheal vision and such because of the pattern with the bars or whatever, but I haven't gotten the chance to test them.

*Forgot to add that I have the Brine Concept Goggles but IMO they're a lot heavier then the Cascades

I bought 4sights for my team and they love them, especially when compared against the iris or concepts that some of them previously had.

There are numerous threads on goggles already, do a simple search to read more reactions and commentary on them.

about half of my team has the cascade iris pro. i personally really like it, because it is a lot smaller than the original iris, and brine concept. i tried on the warrior theia goggles at work one day, and it just seemed really big. i dont know how anyone else feels about them though.

$10 says you didn't wear the 4sights properly which made them uncomfortable to you

Let's see. I have the original iris for the times I play field (yeah, I actually whip em out a few times in the summer), their decent. My sister has the 4 sights, takes a while for them to not hurt but after the 3 days your set and they're mad comfertable. Though, I did wear the iris pro's this week. I have to say they are pretty nice, though I still prefer my helmet :)

yeah- i definitely agree with both of the above posts. you have to give the 4sights a few days. uncomfortable at first, but after you get them right you will love them.

my whole team has cascades but my personal opinion is that they are the most comfortable... other goggles may look better than the cascades but they push on your temples and i dont like them.

or maybe my headis just shaped weird! lmao

Brine has a new one called Vantage that comes out in the fall and fits like a swim goggle - tight to the face & really soft on the sides You can see as well as the 4Sight but they feel better and are lighter than their old ones and much smaller.

Aww man I remeber seeing these at 1812. Shoot, I knew I should have paid more attention to the dumb girls. They said something about them not havign a certain part. They looked a lot like swimming goggles, the small ones that the pros wear though. Not like snorkling ones.

ljlax
08-03-2005, 11:13 PM
are they wire?
if they are too small i would think that they still take away a lot of ur perifial (hm yeah i can spell) vision

lilaxgurl23
08-03-2005, 11:21 PM
I don't remeber them being wire. Then again I was so pissed at the reps that all I cared about was the free raffle and didn't really take time too look at them. Goggles don't concern me so much as you can tell lol I prefer the sticks, as they interest me more.

cuz that small of wire ones seems weird. but then i dont think i would ever want plastic ones

I have a pair of the Warrior Theia plastic goggles, but they fog up something fierce....I like the look and feel..they are very light and give better vision overall that is until they fog up..and I can't imagine how they would perform in the rain....

lol yea...imo they don't look so bad once you put them on....also i thought having different lenses for lighting conditions was sort of cool...
i was using them earlier this summer for field hockey, i took a stick to my face right below my brow, took 8 stitches to close it...the cage goggles have too many blind spots when playing fh, of all the goggles out there they were the coolest looking...but once they started to fog, it was game over....

here's the new Brine goggle. They're wire and they're wide open on the side so you;ll be able to see fine.

Be careful of the Warrior plastic ones the're only approved for youth lacrosse. Check US lacrosse's list: www.uslacrosse.org/news/2004/eyewearupdate.phtml

Because they knew nothing about their own products. I asked if they had their new stick with them and they had too look at the brouchure to tell me they didn't. They pretty much knew nothing other to recommend their crappy shafts and heads to me.

lokiinspired
08-13-2005, 07:42 PM
Hm. That does look like there is something going on your nose, like over top of it... That could be a good idea though, just makes them less prone to shifting, I suppose. Will make it difficult to wear glasses though (yes, I know you're not supposed to...) Does anyone know of any goggles made for wearing glasses underneath but are still wire? They are the devil to find...

laxfolife24

a girl on my team wore her glasses under the cascades and she didn't have a problem.

ljlax
08-13-2005, 08:51 PM
^^ but technically ur not supposed to. like all the stuff they do to check and see if they are safe is basically invalidated when u wear glasses

i recommend getting some contacts.

lokiinspired
08-13-2005, 09:52 PM
Yeah. I have so real problem with wearing my glasses under the goggles, but as it seems goggles are getting smaller and smaller and glasses are not, I believe soon enough they won't fit. I'm considering contacts, but I still am not comfortable with the idea and I happen to like my glasses quite a lot... -sighs- D*mned 20/600 vision...

lilaxgurl23
08-13-2005, 10:05 PM
hahaha WHOAA 20/600.. Joke? I know nothign about vision because I am 20/20. But I will tell you something, I am friends with another goalie who had glasses. and she said when she got contacts, it was so much better. She was liek you and did not want contacts, but after she got them she said having contacts were so much better, especially in lacrosse and her being a goalie.

My sister was a little aprehensive about contacts as well, but has never looked back since she has gotten them a few years ago.

lokiinspired
08-13-2005, 10:20 PM
Lol, that is what most people say, but 20/600 is the absolute truth. I'm nearsighted, but my hand needs to be about seventh inches from my nose before the wrinkles on my palm are perfectly clear. I've never met anyone with worse vision, but the guy at the eye clinic said he had. Good luck to that person! I think I might ask my mom about getting contacts sometime before the season starts up. I've heard about how great they are, so all I will miss is the sex appeal of my plastic frames! XD jk

lilaxgurl23
08-13-2005, 10:27 PM
haha I actually don't have perfect perfect vision, but it's not bad enough to were I can get contacts. But the doctor said they can give me some liek throw away contacts where basically I can wear them a few hours then chuck them. Perfect for games, so if I lose one or one pops out all is good. Though I don't have them, if I did I would get those if I didn't want to switch from glasses to contacts.

lokiinspired
08-13-2005, 10:34 PM
Throw away contacts do sound like a good idea. The only problem that befalls me is that my glasses are new (less than a month) and I don't think my mother would be all too fond of getting me contacts so soon. -shrugs-

ljlax
08-14-2005, 02:00 AM
yeah, but u would need ur glasses even if u did get contacts. becuase like when u wake up in hte morning etc. plus maybe u wont wear the contacts always at first and only for lacrosse

They have a bridge like on a normal pair of glasses or sunglasses to help keep them from slidding down.

I don't own them..
But... I have heard that you have to break them in.
So wear them tight for the first couple days..it may hurt but the rubbery stuff will mold to your face..

Sumsum wrote a review on them a little while ago.

i own the brine vantage goggles (the newest ones) and at first i hated them because i had to adjust them A LOT. then recently i adjusted them on my face and they've been a lot more comfy. to anyone who just bought them, i suggest you really like figure out where they will be comfy on your face, not relative to where your old goggles were. but if you're in the market of getting goggles, i would definitely get the stx 4-sight because they are a lot more comfy

I've been playing with the 4sights for almost a year now and I like them a lot better then Cascades. My team just got the newest pair, the titanium ones and they're soo light, it really makes a difference. I think some of our girls have problems where the goggles sit on their nose a little too, which could be dangerous. All in all though I think they're great
