Hello Everyone:

I've started up and initiative called Les' fund.

Les Bartley is the long time winning coach of the Toronto Rock and before that the Buffalo Bandit's.

Les is in the fight of his life, he has colon cancer that has spread to his lymph nodes. Les begins chemotherapy next month.

In honour of Les' present battle as well as the many who are close to us that have fought this terrible disease, I'm calling on the National Lacrosse League fan community to begin a fundraising drive in support of you local cancer societies.

The Plan:
Each NLL fan group begin fundraising, do whatever you want to raise money. I'm willing to come to all the venues the Rock are playing at and donate my body to dunk tanks, sponge throws, or anything that doesn't produce serious injury to help raise funds. All the money raise by the fans of each team is then directly donated to their chapter or the Cancer Society the only thing I ask is that you mention your NLL team affiliation and/or fan group and that it's in honour of Les Bartley and his fight with cancer.

The last week of the season I will be asking for totals from the various teams. The only thing that will come from this is the satisfaction and pride of knowing as a community we rallied together to help fight cancer.

The NLL endorses this action, as does the Les and his family, as well as Ed Comeau the interum coach of the Rock. I hope everyone either gives their time or donates money to help in Les' Fund.

I can be contacted at jarecanada@yahoo.ca.

Thanks for any and all help.

Everyone,

Locally, Wingslacrosse is working to organize a partnering fund with JareCanada's effort. So, if you are in the Philadelphia area, and would like to make donations, please stay tuned as I get information on our end of the program. We should be able to become fully active in this very soon.

Please donate for this worthy fund, and if Mark sees this, maybe LacrosseForums can do something to help out. This is a cause that touches us all. Every one of us has someone we know or are related to, that has suffered with cancer at one point in their lives, and it will effect so many more. Please take the time out of your day to at least consider this proposal, or at least do what you can to spread the word.

NLL fans and Lacrosse fans united, to strike down cancer!

Jare canada, may I suggest perhaps a tournament where York University could donate some floor time and enter some men's teams to play master's rules and have some good fun and raise cash for the tourney....jeee...maybe like an entry fee per team, and getting some prizes like sticks from the rock and etc..... It would be a great day of fun for lax players in les bartley's honour and name and fundraiser.... Just a suggestion though, I understand the complications that may occur......

Hooligan:
Thanks for co ordinating this on the Philly end. Your help will be greatly appreciated.

Paul.Gaitz.Rules:
If you are or someone you know is willing to set up these little "friendly's" of lax, go for it. I wouldn't know the first place to start. Keep us posted on the tourny or games progress.

Thanks for the ideas and offers of help, together we can crosscheck cancer right out of the game...let's beat it Lacrosse style!
